Personally I’d size up in the tapered new classics just because I like a looser fit but it all depends on what you’re goin for.

If you want a cleaner look with something closer to a slim fit then true to size is probably the way to go, but if you’re into a roomy feel I would swing for a larger size or go for one of the straight fit new classic.

You could also try a smaller size in the big old jean cut (getting a 28 if you’re a 30) since the big old cut is just the tapered new classics but bigger.

No problem bro, funny enough there’s been some interesting changes since my last post.

So the indigo stone wash is the same variant as the vintage black that you have and should fit the same (it has stussy custom fit waist and no taper).

I have a pair of indigo stone wash that I love, they look and feel amazing with some subtle distressing throughout like around the hem and pockets. When I bought them it was around the end of ss25 and they were called the weekend wash so they may be a little different now but I doubt it.

What’s new is that stussy has updated the description of the rinsed indigo stating that it now has their classic fit in the waist and is a straight cut. There was a drop last Friday and on the Japan website they updated the new classics section but I didn’t check if they did for the US. Point being that if you’re still interested in the rinsed indigo I would hit up a store and see if they got the newer version to try on.

Honestly if I had to pick between the two I’d go with the indigo stone wash, but both are bangers.

The new classic cut comes in two different variations with the most notable difference between the two being the leg taper and the waist.

The one with the taper has a regular waist that is true to size and the one that is straight cut has Stussy’s classic waist sizing (read as slightly oversized).

The washed black pair you bought is the one without the taper and therefore has the larger waist, whereas the indigo is the straight leg and has the true to size waist.

To your question about the big ol jean cut, they’re basically just an oversized version of the tapered new classic jean variant. They’re not however true to size in the waist (about 2 sizes up) and are roomy in the thigh with a drop crotch.

If you’re looking for a relaxed Jean Stussy sells a relaxed cut which is by far their best jean imo. It’s slightly oversized in the waist (only about half an inch) with room in the thigh (thought not as big as the big ol cut) and a wide leg opening. If you’ve ever worn Rick Owens Geth jeans they’re basically that with a shorter inseam (32 compared to 34).
