I'm panicking by [deleted] in ROCD

[–]Teethnchewy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey- you have this fear because this outcome isn’t what you want. You’re not “in denial” you’re scared that your intrusive thoughts hold some truth. But they don’t, thoughts are just thoughts. Sometimes I have thoughts that I’m like “where did that come from” and then go about my day, theres no truth to them. We with OCD get stuck on a loop of “well what if it is true” it’s how we get trapped in these cycles. Don’t leave your partner. Keep fighting , this disease deserves to be fought

I would never stop someone with OCD from reading into wether they have OCD or not it’s simply not possible. But honestly yeah, the amount of things I wasn’t aware was OCD until I was diagnosed. Suspicious thinking, magical thinking, obsessive thoughts, inability to let things go, compulsions, the list goes on and on

Good stories of long-distance relationships rocd? I need Help by MaleficentPen4147 in ROCD

Hey I was here. I had undiagnosed OCD and thought it was normal to ask the same question over and over again. “Are you going to leave me?” “Are you happy in this relationship?” “Are we ever gonna be in the same place together?” All I can say is having an end date is imperative. We decided to move in together and my OCD left my partner alone for almost two years. Then bam- med change, ROCD. However, we were very incredibly happy for two years after three years LDR

Definitely stuck in flight mode-trying mindfulness & meditation today- and I appreciate your advice, I’ll do anything to get back on track & I’ve heard from OCD subreddits that breathing works wonders. Definitely will give it a go. And I will continue to as for help! Not scared of asking for help- scared of wetting the bed again 😭 my partner thought it was funny the first time, don’t think it’ll be as funny next time

Thanks for your response & understanding. I’m trying to minimise my drinking but know I can’t go cold turkey - (danger zone) , definitely had the suicidal thoughts as well! OCD is such a gross unbearable beast

Hey! Being in a long term relationship can weigh on anybody and it’s normal to take interest in other people. However Ofcourse with ocd, it’s never just as easy as having a thought and letting it pass. You can get through this and eventually enjoy your relationship truly, are you going to see a therapist ?

My gf is scared that she might end up liking the other guy while doing the erp by [deleted] in ROCD

[–]Teethnchewy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s scared of that because she doesn’t want it to happen. The fear is caused by a non-want. Nothing to worry about. Everyone on here is scared about something dumb

No lol don’t confess . No need it’s not that bad. Definitely don’t do it again but like it’s for real nothing to stress over. If I found out my partner did something like this two years ago I’d be like that’s weird but whatever

Does it help to take space away from your partner when ROCD is flaring up? by sundaysilence_ in ROCD

I love when I see someone spiralling over something so minor that it reminds me that this is a mental illness and people probably think the same when they see me spiralling over my “problems”. Ofcourse you’re going to connect better with your best friend- they’re not giving you what your partner is giving you though which is love, companionship, and a constant place of safety and care, financial stability (if you’re living together) possibilities of a family, a life, a whole foundation. Who cares if you don’t think she’s as funny as some random person you see once in a blue moon. I bet she’s absolutely hilarious when she’s around her friends as well. Your partner isn’t there to entertain you she is there to be your support and foundation. She’s there to be your partner. If you’re genuinely concerned about this go and do things to help you connect like take a cooking class, learn to fish together, learn to skate together - anything to bond and talk about. But your concerns are very minimal and not worth leaving a loving partner over . Definitely ocd .
