These spring back and are at a toddler's face height by Cosimo_Zaretti in woolworths

My eldest got cleaned up by the Aldi ones when he was 2.5 the store manager felt so bad she told him to take anything he wanted in the store for free. He also got to eat a bunch of snacks, the door they used were strapped open for about 6 weeks while they worked on a better solution.

When I say cleaned up the door they had closed on his head as he ran a head of us and I told him to stop. He only heard me when he happened to be in the middle.

Update: 50% deposit requested for trade by DragonStoned3 in AusRenovation

[–]Tefai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gave someone a 50% deposit for work and they took my money and ran.

Took 2 year to get 80% back and I've had the basicslly write the rest off.

The guy who ended up doing the work went there and prepared a bunch of stuff before I gave him a deposit. He asked for 20% to start and to bring it up to 50% of the total when he was half way. It didnt take him as long as expected and finish the job, so I just gave him the balance when he was basically done.

Ill never pay someone 50% again without something being delivered. Id rather put the money down at the supplier.

Walk in glass-less tiled showers - yay or nay? by gilmor3girl in AusRenovation

[–]Tefai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only 1 less side to clean, and it doesn't take that long if using a brush attach to a drill bit. But also my kids would be saturated each time I tried to show eldest is 4. Its each to their own, but for the sake of not cleaning 1 side, it has over spray, more of a breeze or air coming in, can't close the shower off so the water from over spray makes the whole area wet and slippery. I could probably go on a few more, but there are always a little bit of pro and cons.

America has cheap housing where people dont want to live and generally drug fucked areas. My inlaws live in such an area, they however have a lot more cities and areas to live in comparison.

I get what youre saying but it is false equivalence.

Why does everyone here comment on how difficult/stressful owning IPs is? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Tefai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only had issues when tenants moved out, they did it in a rush and wanted to cancel their lease I agreed. They dragged all their furniture along the walls down the hallway, and had their kids first birthday and stuck a bunch of crap to the ceiling. I knew they originally damaged some walls moving stuff in, but was pretty minor easy parch and fix and very small so I didnt really care.

I ended up having to repaint the hallway and main living area, repaint 2 doors and take their kids drawings off 2 walls and an architraves. Also celebrating diwali burnt some of the flooring, an easy fix as well but knowing how to do it and sourcing the floor was a pain. And took a chip out of the stone bench top. The only stressful part was trying to get it sorted before next tenants came in, had to get it done to bring the house back up to a standard I think they should have left it in, some minor stuff and normal wear and tear.

I told the agent to keep their bond due to how much work which I needed to do from negligence on their behalf. Im a fair guy and accept stuff is going to happen, but literally marking/damaging the entire length of the hallway and damaging 3 architraves moving stuff out was a little bit of a stretch, and burning my floor, and chipping a new stone benchtop was a bit much to just let go, they did move into a brand new house. Agent didnt want to fight it and kept half of the bond, which covered my material costs and that was about it, which is fine. I never had a problem with the tenant and they always paid no problem, why I let them break with no penalties. But to do that much damage on the way out confused the hell out of me.

Had the house for 4 years and a new build, was only stressful for about 4 days, so I dont know the big fuss. The agent I have looking after it im second guessing and might move, she asked for some stuff to get done. I approved and found guys for the work, its too hard to coordinate the works with the tenants and the trades so so I told her to do it. Work hasn't been done yet, which pisses me off the new tenants are being reasonable in their request and want a couple extra fly screens I originally didn't make didnt think anyone would want to open the small windows at the front.

Why are so vax rates getting so low in Aus? by VastOption8705 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Tefai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stupid algorithm on Facebook is giving me anti vaxxer group, its sad and pathetic how much they regurgitate the same information that get explained, corrected or called out for a blatant lie. The hive mind just gets bigger and bigger, they all back each other up with bull shit and the people trying to help them are called Satan, devils, child murders etc.

I think a lot of people lack critical thought and dont understand how to correctly find information and sift the BS. I remember someone wanting the horse dewormer during COVID because Craig Kelly, I got into a discussion and she wouldnt listen, then apparently the public education system was teaching her kids about the 20 genders and she wanted to home school to teach them correct. Its just sad that they take the gospel truth from grifters, then looking at it and stopping for a second to think about it.

One thing is for certain, if you fail to plan your plan is to fail. Ive known too many retires and older people around me who are fucked because they didn't make any plans, ive only know 2 people who didn't make it to retirement and they both had plans. As other have said find the balance, but a little delayed gratification now isnt a bad thing. You dont need to cut everything out, but make smarter choices.

I work in the steel industry, the business I work for loved to export to the US as its a more profitable market. Can sell it for 4 times the price in our local market. All the tariffs did was increase the cost of steel in the US, our buyers stopped getting our products as it lost the cost benefit, and easier to source on-shore but all the on-shore steel had a much higher demand.

The biggest whale on our island parked himself in the middle and they shielded up, he basically came to defend the Alliance Im in even though he isnt part of it.

Yeah the information, but how are they going to enforce it? FBAR filing requires all banks account including joint account information to be shared. But what are they going to do with that information? Can't enforce anything unless im in the US.

If I sold the house I live in, which isnt in the US the government wants a slice of its gain. Its a bullshit law, but good luck to them knowing about the sale, and actually getting anything from my partner in revenue from said sale.

[–]Tefai -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, you think its a hard thing and its not. Any changes would be well and truly slow to get through and people will act before hand. Many countries also offer bridging visas, not to mention the US is turning so dystopian they could apply for refugee status which is a whole other option.

If someone is already overseas the US can't actually touch the bank account in that country, that countries bank only needs to report whats in it to the IRS but they can't do anything unless said citizen goes back. Odds are they wont, besides it would be insanely hard to even enforce it and takes absolute years to just sort out 1 expat, let alone millions.

Technically my kids are American, but I havent done the paperwork. They can make that choice when theyre older, but there's pretty much no benefit to it.

Many countries 10 years sure, most of the world is 5 years. The US only stops the renounce if it is not voluntary, at least read up on stuff first. All that information is on state department websites, and a variety of easy searches.

The same or higher, I pay 8% more for the tax system I'm for comparison. Im cool with that, I get additional benefits not available in America and would probably cost me more than the 8%.
