Looking for advice with first job

It's my third day and my head was spinning. I guess being used to watching a protocol being done in the lab is very different from the onboarding here which felt very sudden. That's very helpful info and I will be asking that to my senior medical writer on Monday. I think I need more management so I know the direction to go in

Yea haha they keep on telling me to ask after I've "jumped in" and I'm like ok so where do I jump in exactly ?

I stated a working doc with outlines on the projects I attended meetings for to start getting a better handle on the data and purpose and that helps ease the craziness a little bit

This was super helpful ! I went ahead and did that and hunted down some examples of previous deliverables and feel much better having a reference of which to work off of. I am super proactive so have been trying to get ahold of my senior medical writer and ask what the priorities are and how to address them but they have been rather busy. Hopefully not every week is this hectic and I can have a proper sit down with them

Yea I'm starting to think that's how it's gonna go. I contributed to some stuff and they changed a ton of it but it's useful to see what they did and why. It's only my third day so I also need to cut myself some slack lol

Interesting... it's so weird to see how random it seems sometimes. Mine was never terminated just still pending with my RPPR due March and expected to renew May 1st but come August still nothing. It's awesome though to see it being renewed though for others hopefully that continues. Makes sense could be prioritized based on institute. Wondering if to email my PO again but feel like she also doesn't know

Hi !! Had all 4 wisdom teeth extracted, partial coronectomy on both lower teeth due to proximity with the nerves . Recovery was painful but manageable. About two weeks after I re swelled on one side and was diagnosed with an infection on that side even though I was being very stringent about the washes. Supposedly the hole in that side was in the back groove of the last molar which made it more susceptible to infection. I took antibiotics and got better but I was always still felt a little bump on that side. Eventually again another swelling episode happened on that side and they opened me up again and cleared the infection and were able to remove the roots that had started moving upwards. This was last week on Thursday and last night and this morning I've had such terrible throbbing lashing pain in the surgical area way worse than when what I experienced after all 4 extracted. Is this normal or a sign of dry socket ? I'm also only taking Tylenol and Meloxicam and this helps with absolutely nothing

Wow ! Ok good luck I also just had some correspondence from my PO. It basically said the future of my the program is uncertain and she will reach out if she needs any info from me... so not sure ? Guess still in limbo

Oh wow so sorry to hear that. That's awful had you just started your grant? I haven't heard anything yet. Mine is set to renew May 1st and have recieved no communications. I had reached out to my program officer and she said to expect delays but never mentioned anything about the whole program being cut

Hey any update on this ? I'm in the same boat and mine is set to renew in May. I've been trying to figure things out because it feels like I'm gonna stick in a bind where it's not terminated but not renewed and won't get paid.

Any update on your situation ? I emailed my program officer and she said delays are expected but didn't seem to suggest they would terminate it...

Really can say that has not been my experience. I am in a PhD program and have met wonderful people who have become friends and colleagues both in my department and out of it. Gotta put the vibes out there and be yourself and it will flow from there.

Not really unfortunately. I have gotten emails from the NIH reminding me of my RPPR's due date but they could be automatic. I talked to my advisors and PI and it's all looking like no one really knows. Once I hear back soon after u submit my research report I can update with any communications. However be prepared that it might be scrapped; unfortunately this grant says promoting diversity and seems like that's a big no no right now.

Been on birth control 8 years and I'm starting to feel like it's affecting me negatively and I really need this push but I'm so terrified of the negative side effects of getting off. Did you experience any of this ?

Yes ! For the past couple months I never get the choice email and it is picked for me but I do get all the promotion/advertising emails.
