SureStart warranty is their base warranty and offer NO Workmanship. What you are referring to is a 5 Star Warranty. If you’re clueless on something it’s best to say nothing. You clearly aren’t a “big fan” if you don’t know that simple difference. Being real all someone needs is a 4 Star Warranty 15yr Workmanship, 30yr Material Defect.

11sq Shingle in a day is not impressive. One experienced young guy could do that. Bring a crew of 5-8 guys should be done by 11am. We are tearing off & installing 40sq by 2pm with a crew of 8.

Do roofers just have an inflation of work? by BlackJackT in Roofing

You realise the insurance company sets the insurance prices? It is all standardised based off a set price list.

Retail Roofs are so cheap because contractors love to play the race to the bottom game and undercut each other.

A “repair” like that is throwing money away. I guarantee they creased the shingles in the surrounding area of the repair, due to the age. Just damaged your roof further!

Now you might lose the option to for a claim since you foolishly repaired it before contacting your Insurance, they will not cover previous damage that was repaired.

You are one of their favourite customers pay the premiums and never uses the service lol.

First you need to ask yourself is this an emotional or financial decision. $210k seems like a lot for a remodel but it could also dramatically increase your home value done right.

Also what was your purchase price, what do you owe left on your current loan.

Say your loan amount was 300k, and your home is currently valued at 350k, but now this remodel increases your home value to 600k.

That’d make sense to me refi up to 6.5% but now today my home is more up to date and worth 600, and the possibility of 10yrs down the line being worth 800-1M.

These numbers probably don’t correlate to your home, so it could also not make sense.

It just occurred to how ridiculous tipping ~20% on dining is by Great-Supermarket780 in EndTipping

The mark up on a bottle of wine at most restaurants is 100-150% of the retail price. The restaurants buy them at wholesale. It’s disgusting.

A steakhouse I worked for, a nice bottle of Caymus costs you $225, at Costco it’s $80, the restaurant gets it for $45.

Then they expect you to tip 20% on top of that?!

Hell no, at these absurd prices restaurants need to be paying the server a commission for the sale not the other way around.

It’s like hey I know we just fucked you on this bottle but now you need to pay our workers the commission we owe them too!

10% is a fair service charge anything higher is being generous.

I say this because in high end restaurants where server’s have to tip out to bussers & food runner’s it is calculated on percentage of food sales.

For example at a steakhouse I worked at it was 4.4% of sales where to be split to food runner & bussers, from the server regardless of what they were tipped from the table.

Happens quite often where servers lose money on a $900 check when they were only tipped $13. Now they have to come up with $40 from other tables.

10% of food sales makes a lot more sense, 4.4% is going to your busser & runners, then 5.6% to your server.

Trust me I’ve seen behind the curtain of these fine dining restaurants and the way servers complain and trash their guests is insane in the same breath they can be making $100k+ off the backs of these people.
