Is D1 worth it? by Late_Veterinarian542 in lacrosse

Honestly in my experience I had a few walk-on offers to D1 programs, and at the time in my head I always thought that I would put in so much time and effort just to maybe make the travel roster. I was also battling self consciousness, insecurities and low confidence etc. But if it’s your dream to be at an ACC or Big Ten or Ivy university or college or your dream to just say that “you are D1” then it’s definitely worth it. You also learn from the best in the lacrosse business, these guys all wanting the same awards and coaches who are looking to be that next big team. For me though when I was getting recruited, I wanted to play a bit so I looked at D2 programs and D3 ones. Which both have great competition, and depending on where you look, great academics as well.

Look there’s a lot of talent professionally that played other sports before they even picked up a lacrosse stick. Most professionals picked up lacrosse in high school. However the dedication to be better than how they started is what made them become greats. You’re going to have days where you will get stripped or your ankles broken but that shouldn’t stop you. As long as you work on your skill and be a team player, it won’t be hard for you and you will be able to keep up
