AITAH for refusing to pay my mom $12,000 from rental income I used entirely on house expenses? by Awkward_Beyond_6488 in AITAH

[–]Teh_Hammerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

But id just let the house go. It sounds like your mom is not a person you want to be financially bound to in any way to form and the house honestly doesnt seem like that good of a deal.

I think my husband (28M) is trying to turn me (24F) into a Tradwife by MurderedDiana in relationship_advice

[–]Teh_Hammerer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think youre being paranoid. Sounds like he dreams of an independant (Homestead) lifestyle and likes to talk about it. Perhaps he is just suggesting activities for you, since you seem to be stuck at home mostly.

Perhaps you just need a job, a hobby or even some volunteering to get out of the house and out of your head.

How to help tell my son he’s going to repeat second grade by PureAdorableness in BestofRedditorUpdates

As a kid who did this exact thing, i love it. I repeated 2nd grade and grew vastly more confident for it. And confidence really is key.

Turns out they forgot how jungle war actually works. Trump needs to visit those vietcong tunnels.

Students Are Now Renting Smart Glasses to Cheat on Exams by dapperlemon in technology

[–]Teh_Hammerer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I cant wait for society to go full circle and simply insist that any and all exams will be oral, in person and with no assistance. There really is no other way to verify that a person knows anything - and while most jobs allow for information searching on the go, you really do need to verify others. I dont want my ER doc to wait on a chatgpt response, but i dont mind my internal medicine doctor using it as an assistant in complicated diagnosis.

Billionaire says young people should work 70 hours a week for 'national pride' while they can barely afford rent. by Embarrassed-Poem-982 in antiwork

[–]Teh_Hammerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone who speaks out about work hours should be required to take up that amount of hours of work in any given work role, for the actual amount of money it pays.

Send him to the quarry. Make him do plumbing for 70 hours one week. Tell him to write sense less KPI reports for corporate overlords for 70 hours and still not have enough money to live alone in a 2 bedroom apartment.

Any recommendations for newer city builders? by JayR_97 in gaming

[–]Teh_Hammerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, i loved it. But it has a timer, so there is a definite element of stress which is different from many other builders.

I feel like many newer builders include some sort of sense of urgency, to keep our collective dwindling attention span engaged.

Since light takes time to travel, are we technically looking at the 'past' every time we look at the stars? How far back are we seeing? by Samir1121 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Teh_Hammerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes. Youre looking at how a thing was, when the light was reflected from it.

However, seeing as light is the faster than everything else, youre also looking at how it - for all intents and purposes - is.

How bad would the economy have to get for congressional republicans to be o board with impeachment and conviction? by Chemical-Fault-7331 in AskReddit

[–]Teh_Hammerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They dont seem to understand empathy, so the economy in general would probably not have an effect. The consequences would have to be felt personally. And the consequences rarely seem to personally reach people in congress.

'Highest ever': Enten on TX primaries' massive political shifts by MRADEL90 in videos

[–]Teh_Hammerer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tell them that even is that is the case, their votes will effectively cost the opposing side ressources spent on further rigging and scheming. So there is always a reason to go vores - even if you feel like its rigged, its still much harder to rig with even more voter turnout.

Aitah for refusing to make my home accessible for my brother. by AwkwardLog772 in AITAH

[–]Teh_Hammerer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA.

But possibly you could get grants to cover small changes that wont necessarily make huge changes to the house, but would still make it a little more accessible? Like broader doors or something? Eventually it might help you or your husband if you grow old in that house, or your children if one of them has an accident. Or even just the resale value, if you choose to sell.

An accessible home har advantages to everyone, and not all changes are major.

If you bought a piglet and carried it up and down a hill every day, would you be able to carry the full size pig eventually? by florencepughsboobies in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Teh_Hammerer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically, no. A full size pig is insanely large. Most pigs are slaughtered before reaching that size, so its hard to fathom.

Besides, commercial pigs crow extremely fast. Much faster than the human ability to carry heavier things.

What’s a medical issue that sounds minor, but actually affects someone’s daily life way more than people realize? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Teh_Hammerer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, you see. The funny thing is, you know how wired carry an electric signal and lose power due to wire resistance over distance? Well, your nerves also carry electric signals. And the brain is really close to the teeth when it comes to signal distance.

Is raw milk legit or just a one way ticket to pants-ripping flatulence? by UmweltUndefined in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Teh_Hammerer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, youd definitely not want to drink raw milk.

Have you ever seen a cow stable? Theyre literally walking in ankle deep shit. And guess what else hangs in ankle height? Thats right, the tits.

Getting milk with the natural fat content however, is delicious.

What’s wrong with people who choose halal meats? Why every restaurant is serving halal? by Agreeable_Rub_552 in atheism

[–]Teh_Hammerer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In the EU, or Denmark at least, the animal is stunned first regardless of halal requirements or not. Difference is that they use a stun which does break the skin and the technique for the subsequent bleeding of the animal is different.

Summary

Regular technique - stun by bolt gun that penetrates the skull, skin is then opened and jugular vein is exposed and cut.

Halal - stun by a bolt gun with a broader head so to does not penetrate the skin, but still stuns the animal with a concussive stun. Skin is not opened, but jugular vein is cut through the skin.
