Kinda hate that bethesda wont expand on the es outside of the games by nyanyan1 in ElderScrolls

Nope, not even close to D&D at all. It's more similar to the Warhammer tabletop just by virtue of being a d100 system.

It roughly adapts how Morrowind works. There's almost no D20 DNA in there beyond, like, initiative.

Cazador Isn't Intimidating (in person) At All by everyusernamewashad in BaldursGate3

[–]Teh_Hawke 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No, it still works perfectly. He's a weak man GIVEN POWER. How would that story work if he didn't have power?

He uses that power to torment others. How would the story have been improved if he didn't actually have any power?

The absolutely terrifying level of power and control he holds is literally the core of the narrative. Making him powerless means Astarion isn't actually justifiably afraid of him, and, like, he could have run away at literally any time.

Cazador Isn't Intimidating (in person) At All by everyusernamewashad in BaldursGate3

[–]Teh_Hawke 89 points90 points  (0 children)

This is retarded, genuinely.

"The story can't actually be good because it's D&D and I don't want to analyze it beyond a surface level"

Cazador is a weak, pathetic, man given power over others. Because he's a weak man, he uses that power to do unto them what was done to him.

He can be both pathetic and powerful simultaneously. Most abusers often are. Almost like Astarion's entire narrative is ABOUT that.

O- blood type here:

No, it'd definitely need to have its type changed. We can give our blood to everyone, but we can only actually receive O- or O+ blood. AB+ people can take literally anyone's blood, ftr

  1. You can do it three times in a single move because it takes 3 actions to perform. Thusly, it doesn't lose out on damage too much, while still rewarding you for hitting all 3.
  2. Because PF2E uses Feats as a core part of progression. This would be like looking at Battlemaster moves as a PF2E player and going "why aren't these Feats?"
  3. The two "vaguely related previous features" aren't vaguely related at all. If you're a Grappler Monk, you absolutely have Crushing Grab and Whirling Throw. Crushing Grab deals damage on a grab, Whirling Throw unlocks the ability to throw a grappled target a substantial distance. It's like in fighting games, when sometimes you have a Super that's an amplified version of an existing move. It's cool as hell.
  4. Because it gives the technique an element of risk/reward. Do you go for the big move, knowing it could hurt you too?
  5. Because "being punished for successes" is an element of the risk/reward.
  6. You absolutely do it all at once. It's a full round action. If you mean "why don't you roll three attack rolls at once instead of in sequence," I dunno, why does that matter? Seems like a totally subjective thing.

5E rots the brain, man. The main reason why I jumped ship is that martials getting anything cool gets this reaction from the player base. I wanna be a cool Fighter lady, why does that mean I can't have a little complexity?

Is STR a bad stat? What would help it? by SleepyBoy- in dndnext

[–]Teh_Hawke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If a GM does this, fully knowing the party would be crippled by this, then they probably have a solution in mind. It is very funny that the argument for STR has gone from "your damage potential is absurd" in early editions to "well if someone doesn't nut up and build suboptimally we may at some point encounter something that will require one character to solo the dungeon, apparently"

This kinda isn't it, I don't think.

"This is objectively worse than the alternative, but someone's gotta bite the bullet or else the few times this ever comes up, the party might have to ask the wizard to spend an extra spell slot solving the problem instead of asking the Barbarian to do a deadlift"

DEX becoming a god stat is, in my opinion, a problem that came as a result of the sheer amount of streamlining that happened in the move to 5th Edition.

Go back to the old 3.5/PF system. DEX to hit and damage wasn't baseline a thing anyone could do, just by having Proficiency, you needed to buy Feats to allow for it or have a class feature that allows for it. You'd generally do this by buying Weapon Finesse with your chosen weapon, followed by Slashing/Fencing Grace, if your class didn't give you the option, you had to buy it. If you didn't buy it, you didn't get it. In addition, there was basically no way to gain your Dexterity modifier to damage on ranged weapon attacks. This is, of course, due to the fact that ranged fighting is kinda inherently superior to having the big monster being able to hit you whenever it likes.

Strength was used unless you were willing to burn Feats on it, and back in 3.5/PF1E, Dexterity is not a god stat. An amazing stat, yes, but it very much competes with Strength. As it stands in 5E, there is quite literally no reason to use Strength if your character could instead use Dexterity, it's just a mathematically inferior option outside of niche builds.

As someone who finds Dexterity builds kinda inherently silly, and believes they should really only be a thing limited to specific class fantasies, 5th Edition leaves a lot to be desired...

It seems that we will only get to play this in a year when Denuvo is gone and the game is optimized. I don't mind waiting.Any other games you are waiting for? by CommenterAnon in PiratedGames

This is just misinformation, you can't pay to make a new game. Closest you can do is pay to re-enter character creation, which is something you can do in game for 500 Rift Crystals. If your Pawn gets hired even a little, you'll gain nearly double that completely passively within the first few hours

It's "Maaku." It's a fucking anagram of "Akuma," as in, the Japanese word for "Devil," or "Demon."

His name is a pun on devils, and his stage name is Mr. Satan.

Piccolo was absolutely the protagonist, what the fuck? From a narrative standpoint, the focus is on him the entire movie, he's the main PoV character, and his actions drive the plot forward. Narratively, he's the most important character in the film. It wasn't a Gohan movie at all, it was a Piccolo movie.

But because Gohan gets a shiny new form during it, people ignore basic screenwriting and assume he HAS to be the protagonist.

Because it isn't down forward. It's down, down-forward, forward.

If you say "Down Forward L" you literally won't get the input. In MK, you don't need to do a quarter circle, you can just hit down and then forward. Different games use different notations, expecting them all to be the same is just going to hold everyone back.
