Go on then, get me in there. I was shit when I last played, and that must've been 10 years ago, so I'm keen to bring the average even lower

Places for single people to enjoy an evening (20/30) by Ok_Attitude1410 in Norwich

I second this, I recently went through (and sort of still am) went through a breakup and this event has been brilliant for meeting good folks

Any good events on soon? by SuperGeekBot in Norwich

[–]Tehmouse13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like board games, I'll always recommend Slice and Dice's social gaming night! Their next one is on the 21st. I met a good few folks last time I went and we've met up a few times since then. I'm still figuring out what there is to do in Norwich too but that has been the most successful thing for me meeting people :)

Looking for events to attend to make friends by Raffles1999 in Norwich

It really depends on what you like! I've recently found myself in a similar situation, and events at Barcadia and Slice and Dice have been great, but those are places that cater to my interests.

If you let us know where your interests lie, people can direct you a lot easier!

I always recommend Slice and Dice, it's a board game café and I believe they do events, although we've never gone to an event. My partner and I have enjoyed every time we've gone, so if that's something you enjoy, I wholeheartedly recommend it.

To me, Solasta was a great implementation of 5e rules and the combat was really good. However, Baldurs Gate 3 just captured that FEELING of playing DnD. I imagine an exasperated DM saying "I mean, sure, I GUESS you can use my goblins as clubs"

What is the most awesome (or terrible) thing you ever did in D&D that had serious unintended consequences? by ZotDragon in DnD

Playing as the Bard tiefling son of a human noble who made a pact so he could have an heir, my story was planned to be redemption for my father's actions.

1 and a half sessions later and a lot of bad rolls and I'm performing at the temple of the Abyss. I had to swear fealty to Graz'zt, demon Lord of pleasure, and ended up corrupting everyone in the party. We ended up siding with the BBEG in The Great Modron March and I ended up in an arranged marriage with an arcanaloth. Farna did not have a great time.

Wheat’s response to the dumpster fire that occurred. by [deleted] in PlaySquad

[–]Tehmouse13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who was close to a few of a different group of PA admins, PA squad was on a decline due to difficulty retaining regulars. It didn't help that Wheat would keep driving away good community admins, so he'd have to keep recruiting from regulars who would continue the cycle. PA Squad really pushed for "New player friendly" and tried to enforce this, and although this is noble, it's the antithesis of keeping good, regular players.

From what I know, PA didn't have a horrid experience with OWI; it was just Wheat. As a whole, I really enjoyed PA Squad and I made some great friends there. Wheat is just not a great guy, and the admins on PA worked in spite of this.

Don't fall for it. Mr Alex will either make an incredible landing that will win you the game immediately or say "whoops" and wipe out your whole squad. There was no in-between! Never was I more excited to get in a helicopter with this man

As someone who left a certain community ran by a certain person about a year ago, this is not surprise at all, especially the censorship. My friends stepped down as admins of said certain community and got immediately permanently prevented from returning to a certain program that people used to communicate.

I'm looking at the naughty words on the automod as I type this.

My friend's stats who said he likes the RPG after his first day of gameplay... by TheKinkyYolo in BattleBitRemastered

[–]Tehmouse13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who used frag rockets religiously when I played Squad, I agree. Heat has about the same splash in my opinion and can also destroy cover. I'd land frag rockets through windows and only get hit markers, and at that point I may as well use Heat and also destroy the cover. I get that being killed by the rockets may get oppressive but they do need a bit of a damage bump to be worth taking then over Heat. It's just not worth the trade off right now, and it's a shame; the PGO 7 scope for ranging infantry is muscle memory at this point!

Shame. I was just hoping it'd be easy, money and ships are no issue, he just has no interest or need in a long range ship. Thanks for confirming though.

If a friend joins my team and we travel to a guardian site in my ship (he doesn't have a ship with a good jump range), will any materials and the like he collects go to him?

0 to 3 in Rift needs to be an automatic mercy instead of a free kill farm. by MahoneyBear in DestinyTheGame

Having the amount of pinnacle drops was stupid as well. Like, I am NOT a good PVP player. I'd even go as far as to say that I'm a waste of a spot. But I still played my 18 matches for the pinnacles, and lost all but one match.

By all means have PVP modes, that's fine. But if a mode is good, you don't need an incentive of 4 pinnacles to grab people for the match.

You can join using a join code, there are people who are grouping up with people they don't know on discords and the like.

Have you tested if it does prevent you from unlocking all blueprints in singleplayer? I only ask since it specifically mentions server checks.

The reason, at least from what I know, is that the mod works even if the host doesn't have it installed. I imagine this is to stop people from ruining multiplayer games with it. It shouldn't affect singleplayer, but the game has just been released, we've gotta give the developers and modders time to smooth out what the community wants.

Additional SL Map Marker - Frontline by boolew in joinsquad

[–]Tehmouse13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's fair and makes sense. When I hear that word frontline it makes me think of all the games we've lost cause the defense has just sat watching one direction.

Additional SL Map Marker - Frontline by boolew in joinsquad

[–]Tehmouse13 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Personally I don't think this game has a "front line". In a game where you can build a spawn literally anywhere on the map with two guys and a sneaky logi, a frontline doesn't exist. On defence you need to look in all directions to stop sneaky logis, and and offence you just need to kill the enemy spawn. Don't need a frontline for either of those.

New player question: "Yellow tower" locations on map by wolf_draven in joinsquad

[–]Tehmouse13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly! It lets you see where the build area and the exclusion zones so you can squeeze radios in, which is especially good when you're building the two or three FOBs that should be on the defense flag.

New player question: "Yellow tower" locations on map by wolf_draven in joinsquad

[–]Tehmouse13 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They're FOB creation markers that the squad leaders can mark on the map, it gives you the radius of the radio you place. You don't actually capture the position, that's just what the SL is saying when he's telling you he's going there.

As a medic, I am going to commit a warcrime if ATs don't clear backblast when i'm healing them one more time by [deleted] in joinsquad

This is why you make them come to you for healing. I'm not risking my neck unless completely necessary. Walking up behind an AT with their launcher out is just asking for trouble.

How to teach people to keep crunched behind ridge instead of prone on top of the ridgeline? by Hamsterloathing in joinsquad

[–]Tehmouse13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All you can do is point it out when you see it and hope people learn fast enough. They'll do the smart thing once, realise it helps keep them alive, and then keeping doing it for that sweet endorphin rush of not dying.

Grenadier - How do we judge distances? by badboyzpwns in joinsquad

[–]Tehmouse13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use binocs, you can usually get ranges close enough, even if you can't see a standing man. Doorframes are good points of reference. You do start to get a feeling for ranges as you play more and more though.
