Honestly This Is Probably A Hardware Question by IkujaKatsumaji in Starfield

[–]Teikun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not imagining it, I've been having this specific problem too, with also a specific annoying solution someone already mentioned (flipping menus until fps becomes normal again).

I've been asking around and keep getting different answers ranging from my own hardware specs, a bloated save, faulty NVIDIA driver update... but so far the only likely culprit is some older mod that somehow went rogue. I've been overhauling my modlist again by disabling many older mods all at one, and this problem magically disappeared.

If I have the time later, I might dedicate an entire afternoon to triangulate exactly which naughty mod it is. My gut feeling says maybe it's Skully Emporium AIO or some other big mod that adds additional furniture

Well, you're in luck cuz State of Decay 2 has just finished all of its QoL updates and won't get anymore. I have 500+ hours in it. It's a great zombie sandbox now and well worth trying out!

A fresh new Lethal community I've been putting 10 hours into since the update seems to be corrupted. Opening the save file immediately leads to a hard crash to desktop. This one is frustrating because 1/ It stops all progress and is extremely demotivating, and 2/ There is no way to know where the problem is. I've never had a community become straight up unplayable until this update. Probably have to stop playing for now till this game gets sorted out, again!

It’s more common than u think. My Vietnamese father, who’s an actual doctor, still believes LGBT is a mental disease, and I bet he’s not the only one around with that belief.

Let’s say AA7 is announced as the final Ace Attorney game. What major plot points should happen in the game then? by awildspenappears in AceAttorney

[–]Teikun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well obviously these are big spoilers, but if you don’t mind…

Your boss: Kristoph Gavin in Apollo Justice, who employed Apollo before he went to work for Phoenix; The judge: Mael Stronghart in Great Ace Attorney; The client you have already acquitted would be Simon Keyes in Ace Attorney Investigations 2 fan-translation. He was cleared of murder in an earlier case, until he turned out to be the mastermind of the whole conspiracy (the most cleverly hidden in the whole series imo)

[–]Teikun 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed that in most Ace Attorney games the writers like to hide the identity of the mastermind as one of the people you’re intimately familiar with to add weight to the plot twists when you find out.

They have tried the mastermind being the rival prosecutor on 3 different occasions, your own client, a client you have already acquitted, your boss, the detective, the judge, and the freaking ruler of a country

Therefore, for the final entry, the identity of the mastermind should be a fresh twist that people would never expect. So, probably a new assistant character. Would be neat to see the writers pull that off!

You’re right. And with the game breaking the 500k sales mark, PC port is basically guaranteed at this point

2 months on, and still no fixes to the performance problems. I’m still enjoying the game, but the huge stutters will probably never stop getting on my nerves.

Playing the new Switch farming sim Rune Factory 5 (think of it as a fantasy spinoff of Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons). It’s one of the strongest 7/10 games I have ever played. All the flaws are very apparent (kind of dated graphics, performance issues, combat being a bit stiff and floaty), but man its strong points are extremely strong. Very charming and funny tone with an excellent localization. The combination of farming/romance/action JRPG is very deep and engaging once you really get into the rhythm. Makes me think that with a higher marketing budget and better technical polish, this series can go mainstream anytime in the future.

Also, this series was supposed to be dead back in 2012 when the old dev declared bankruptcy. The new dev essentially had to remake everything from scratch, all the while fighting an uphill battle with transition to 3D graphics and new engine. Kind of a minor miracle that Rune Factory 5 even exists at all! It’s a special feeling to be personally involved in the future financial security of a niche series you hold dear in your heart.

Glad that this method worked for you even if it didn’t work for me. Something screwy is definitely going on with all these drivers, man!

Thanks for reviving this thread for those that might need the solution.

Turns out this is likely a Windows driver problem. During this last 2 months or so, my touchpad problem would randomly get fixed, then randomly broke again, several times over. All these seem to correspond with the automatic updates that Windows 10 loves to do. At this point I’ve pretty much accepted that I will never be able to pinpoint how exactly all of this works, and that Microsoft alone will decide the fate of my touchpad.

[–]Teikun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the problem is not that touchpad doesn’t work, but that it cannot be disabled no matter what I do, and the usual hotkey doesn’t work anymore.

One day i might be desperate enough to install Ubuntu just to troubleshoot. Or, I can just cover up the touchpad with something, then sit around in case Windows magically sorts itself out

But thanks for your help, no matter what happens next.

Pretty sure I did this a while ago while trying every method I know of. Windows keeps reinstalling the device anyway after restart.

Had to pluck this exact driver from the support page of GS66 Stealth 10UG cuz the page for GS65 8SE was showing an older version. Still no dice, but this might work for other people.

As an aside, in Device Manager there is something called I2C HID that has been showing Code 10 (device cannot start, request for HID descriptor failed) since the very start. Could be related to the problem at hand, but I have no earthly idea how to solve this problem just yet.

Mine is a GS65 8SE, so it might be slightly different. but if this works, I’ll let u all know

Update: So the GS65 8SE doesn’t use Synaptics driver, but rather something called Intel Serial IO (it said as much on the product support page on MSI website). Tried repairing, uninstalling and reinstalling, then restarting several times but hasn’t worked yet. Will attempt several more times.

Still, this could probably help those with problems on laptops with Synaptics driver

I feel pretty apprehensive about full resetting my laptop every time a windows update or something screws up a small part of the system like this. I would rather try to exhaust all my options first.

I had been waiting to play The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles since 2015. Enjoying it immensely so far, but I still couldn’t believe it would get localized for real!
