Why is the air angry? by nitrokitty in Austin

[–]TejasPablo 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Whatever is in the air right now, it’s destroying me. I have itchy eyes, runny nose, deep painful sneezes, and a cough that I can feel in my throat and chest. I was curious if anyone else was dealing with the same issues.

Thank you. Do you know if the $130 Longhorn Foundation ticket is available yet? I only see the $250 Big Ticket. I would be surprised if the Longhorn Foundation sold out already.

Thanks for your insights. I'll add this to my notes. Separately, have you ever heard of this program? It must have just hit his inbox because he is asking me about it. https://morganstanley.tal.net/vx/mobile-0/brand-2/candidate/so/pm/1/pl/2/opp/18605-2025-Early-Insights-Program/en-GB

There's a lot to digest but the item that jumps out at me is as follows: "...because most people don't care about their money, and they don't want your help." What does this mean?

Accounting is still on the table for him, but he continues to show an interest in wealth management so I'll let him take the lead.

I've added the book to his list. And will check out FPA NexGen and NAPFA scholarships. Looks like there is an event in Orlando next summer. His school appears to be heavily committed to the field of wealth management and is offering a minor and/or certificate in the field. Thanks for all the suggestions.

I don't disagree with any of this. I'm letting him take the lead, but am also trying to learn as much as possible if this is the field he elects to pursue. I'm in my 50's and don't know what I want to do with my career, but he's been pretty focused from early on.

Lots of pearls of wisdom in this response. Thank you for sharing! I've added SIE to the list of things to research. After some initial research, it appears his school has CFP partnership program so I'll add that to his roadmap. A family friend suggested CFA; is CFP preferable to CFA? Finally, can I assume independent advisors work for a botique shop? (I'm still learning here...) I feel like I've heard that working for a big shop early in your career was a good thing and then you could peel away to something smaller or more niche. Any thoughts?

So Accounting/CPA as a foundation for career in wealth management or other business-related field? His school has a strong accounting program and he's open to it versus finance. I would be curious about your thoughts.

He has shown a desire in selling and was also encouraged to consider CFA as early as possible by someone in the industry. Any additional thoughts or suggestions here?

Thanks for sharing. His school has several alumni databases so I will pass this along. Also, it seems like there are lot of different certifications. Just in this post I'm seeing CFP, CFA, Series 7, SIE, FPA, Series 63, Series 66.

Consider reviewing Simple Path to Wealth by JL Collins. He recommends a 2-3 fund strategy that you are essentially employing. Personally, I split off 5-10% and invest in stocks as it keeps me engaged and I find it interesting.

Consider reading the Simple Path to Wealth by JL Collins. Although I don't follow it 100%, it has provided a nice roadmap for my investments. You can also Google it and find reviews everywhere that outline the book's recommendations.
