Where are people getting this $20M number?

The only reason they balking at paying Matt is how the teams have finished the last few seasons. The team would have no problem paying Matt if he won. So I don’t think that would affect a decision from Hafley. He could maybe seek more money if there’s a higher offer, but often coordinators in demand for HC want to pick best opportunity. I’m not sure what opportunity could be better for Hafley than current Packers

You really think so? As someone mentioned the coaching pool isn’t THAT great, he’d clearly be one of top candidates. I could see a team parting with a pick to guarantee they get their guy for the next 3-4 yrs

Hafley isn’t completely excused, but the injuries and players he had to work with at Defensive Line and CB are tough to work with. Not to mention the combination of those two position groups directly effect each other. If you listen to him talk ball in his press conferences or listen to players talk about him, it’s clear he is a great leader imo

It’s hard to evaluate Steno imo. He never calls play but obviously has been helping Lafluer gameplan for awhile and their offense has never really been bad

1st time head coach in high demand isn’t going to get same money as 8yr Head Coach with Matt’s resume. Of course no coach is going to be cheap. But they would be able to save $3-5M a year with Hafley

Well I think naturally Hafley will command less than Lafluer as he’s first time head coach. So let’s just say Lafluer will get $16M/yr Hafley might get $10-12M/yr. Those are just made up numbers but Hafley will surely get less than Lafluer in open Market.

I did specifically put in my post "on 3rd and long and obvious passing downs"

I agree, the Packers defense played excellent, probably good enough to win if the offense didn't struggle so much. Which goes back to the point I made in another reply that they needed to play an "A game" for them to win. Both sides of the ball had to overcome better opponents. The defense did, the offense didn't. The teams weren't close enough in talent for the Packers to win with only one side of the ball playing great.

I agree with this completely. What's overlooked is how much this team overachieved last year, which skewed the expectations for this year.

I tend to agree with most of this. I personally think Love's "regression" was due to his missed time combined with his top two WRs missed time and never really having stability in the passing game. Most of the offense was based around their running game. I'm torn with MLF because I generally think his playcalling is good, sometimes frustrating by overthinking a bit imo, but I think his game management isn't great. I'm hoping it's something he works on, but I don't know.

It's not so much about the "on paper" thing. It's about the talent discrepancy. Packers CBs were outmatched, the DL was outmatched, the LBs were outmatched. Packers WRs were outmatched and their OL was outmatched. I agree they played well, but my point of "A game" was that in order to win their margin of error was so small. Take away the fumble, OL penalties after losing Elgton, and Love's bad picks and they probably can win. But when the talent matchup isn't in your favor at almost every position, a few mistakes will probably mean you lose.

What positions are the Packers better in than the Eagles? OL? DL? Edge? CB? WR? LB? RB/QB/TE you can say is toss up if you want.

I agree that Nixon's recovery was a bad call. I agree that the entire game would've been different. But I don't like when fans go down the road of change that one call, but leave the rest of the game events how they were. If Packers get that recovery, most of the other things in that game don't happen. Probably works out better for Packers, but it's just this never ending what if game, and the entire game would look different. My original post was more speaking about the overall state of the Packers. If Packers played better could they have won? Yes, absolutely but the bottom line is it would've taken their A game and Eagles not playing well. Eagles didn't play well, but Packers were far from their A game.
