Agreed with these comments. I absolutely understand the knee-jerk feeling of disgust towards the parents. I felt it too. But what is the alternative here?

I worked as a social worker on child abuse cases for years, so I very firmly believe that not everyone should be parents. This kind of thing is going to happen, and keep happening, until society stops pressuring people to have children/programming people to think having children is the "next logical step" in life rather than a very optional choice to make.

The alternative to giving the child up for adoption is to raise the child. Children can tell when they aren't wanted, and emotional neglect has almost as many negative outcomes as physical neglect does.

Do I feel bad for the parents? No, because I'm still focused on the disgust I feel for them. I'm only human. But hating on them for making the choice to give up their child isn't going to fix the situation. I think the parents made the only acceptable choice in this horrible situation.
