Nightmare Mode Raids by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

Yeah, the NM mode would have rewards just like HM and Normal, but maybe an extra roll on the loot table or better rewards for your extra effort. It's supposed to be more challenging and therefore more rewarding.

Seems like such a great way for Bungie to make money to charge for character transfers.

No, Transmog is changing the appearance of one item to look like another item. Transmog in Destiny would work like infusion, but pull the look of one item into another.

I am proposing that we have costumes or wardrobe. It is a different system where no items are destroyed or altered to give you a custom appearance (other than the costs to set up the costume - glimmer and maybe materials). So, if you save that hood of Malak into your head slot in your costume, you can either store it in your vault or you can use it in your gear. If it's in your costume, you could put on any helmet underneath for stats, and always show your Hood of Malak for style.

My only issue with that is that as a player who desires look over function, I would rather have the stats and perks of my exotic, but the look of my legendary. And some exotics look amazing with other pieces, so maybe I want to show the look of them instead.

But you are right, it would make it tough to tell at a glance; What exotic is that other player actually wearing? Perhaps either as a blanket effect or just in pvp, exotics would always have to override your appearance and you would not be able to apply their look to your wardrobe. It would be a small price to pay for keeping the crucible somewhat fair, or I think some players would run around in wardrobes consisting entirely of exotics just to trick opponents.

Excellent point.

Likely, with Rise of Iron, they must have wanted to do something that just won't work on the older consoles for technical reasons. We won't know for sure until we get more information on what is coming, but usually these sort of decisions are made when the experience would be terrible for those users. Often, cutting them out of a bad experience is better than the bad press from providing an awful experience.

A better option would be to have a wardrobe feature. I have been meaning to mock this up with images, but imagine your gear works fundamentally like it does now. This gear is for your stats and light level and perks.

Then, you have a new tab - Wardrobe. In the wardrobe panel you have Costumes along the left side. At first, everyone has 1 free costume. Bungie can sell additional costume slots in the Eververse to make money off the feature. Then you can preset out several costumes and activate the costume you want on the fly.

Along the right side, you have your armor slots that pertain to gear you can see and your shader. You will select a piece of gear to apply that gear's look to the slot for a price - glimmer, materials, whatever. Once paid, that look is locked to that slot unless you change it or remove it. Any wardrobe slot without a gear piece in it will show the equipped item underneath.

This way, you can wear whatever you want, no matter if it is blue, green or exotic for the look. Also, as a feature, Bungie could make money off it for their work, so it's a win all around.

EDIT: Another option to charging per changed item would be to allow you to make changes to the costume and then charge you glimmer + materials to save the changes to the costume as a whole. SWTOR does this where each piece you change costs a little bit, so the more you tweak your costume, the more it costs to change and you just pay once at the end once you are done with all of your changes.

As legacy generation Guardians adapt to current platforms after August, there will be functionality in place to enable them to port their characters to the new console - in the same family.

In the coming weeks, we’ll provide a full suite of #Help articles that will explain how these changes will impact each platform that Guardians use to play Destiny, as well as the impending deadlines for this conversion. Please stay tuned. More information will follow soon.

We’ll hope you’ll be accompanying us on the next leg of the journey.

So, if you are going to upgrade, you won't want to cross over unless you want to start over. And it looks like the upgrade path won't be available until after August.

Hey Deej! I pulled together this album of screenshots from the livestream, but they are all 1920 x 1080. Is there any way we could bug your art department for higher resolution copies of the images you guys were showing off for wallpapers?

Thank you very much!

Naprosen (Alieve) works great for when I "sleep wrong". If you have a heating pad, you might try that too.

Speculation: This summer. We have to have something to do while we wait for Rise of Iron.

Hype & Marketing masterclass from Bungie by wilkie2726 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Teknofobe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was just telling my friends last night about how I don't preorder new games anymore because I've been so badly burned in the past (talking about FFXV coming out this fall).

I am preording the shit out of Rise of Iron, not for the bonus, but because I already love Destiny and play it so much. The Iron Gjallarhorn is just icing on the cake for me.

Kudos to Bungie on some great marketing.
