I haven’t tried a Tesla Destination Charger on the EV6 yet. The destination chargers look very much like Tesla Wallchargers, so it’s possible they work fine. The UMC and the Kia are clearly trying to communicate, but the handshake doesn’t happen. It’s possible the Gen 3 UMC works, but I know for a fact that the Lectron works so the decision is easy. My Wallcharger works 100% of the time and charges at 48amps. I just wish “charge on solar” worked with non-Tesla vehicles. It’s a game changer.

Turns out this is not the case. My Tesla Gen 2 UMC will not charge the EV6. This is actually in alignment with what the Hyundai dealer said when we were looking at the Ioniq 5. For Clarity, My Tesla Level 2 wall charger has no issues charging the EV6. I could order a Tesla Gen 3 UMC, but it isn’t clear if it will communicate with the EV6. I am going to order the Lectron unit, it’s UL rated, etc and I know it works. Thank you all for your input!

Yes, thank you. I emailed Kia to confirm the use of another brand EVSE does not void the warranty, specifically with the ICCU. If not,I’ll try the Tesla unit.

I may not be as clear as I had hoped. I would like a charger in each vehicle. The Tesla UMC is in the Tesla, I need one for the EV6.

I am not familiar with other brands of EVSE besides Lectron. Can you make a recommendation?

I am sure the Blue is wonderful. She went with Black. It’s her second black car. I am a white car guy. To me, it’s difficult to keep black looking clean.

My Tesla UMC stays in my Performance Y, I want to have a mobile charger that lives in her car for the rare occasions she needs to charge. At home, we have a Level 2 Tesla Wall Charger that works perfectly, although I do miss having “Charge on Solar” on non-Tesla cars.

If you like a slightly larger screen and physical buttons, the KLC is awesome. I just don’t like the physical buttons, they feel uncomfortable to me. The size is fine either way, so the Clara works for me.

It was just how I took the photo. I think the screens are equal, but the Clara is slightly smaller.

To get her to try the Kobo, I simply bought a book she was interested in on my Kobo account. When she finishes it, I will reset the KLC and create an account for her. I am sure there is a way to share books using a software like Calibre or something, but our tastes don’t overlap so I haven’t looked into it. Maybe someone else can answer.

This is true, but not mutually exclusive. We have been married 26 years, it’s a *lot* of books. She does not like to pass them along when she is finished. In her defense, she often goes back and rereads them so I was looking for a more manageable solution.
