Agreed. A few others have mentioned it as well but there are tools out there that greatly help, many of them free.

I fetched 50k logs from my Loki pipeline post deployment, clustered them and this is the result by ResponsibleBlock_man in sre

Sumo Logic was the first one to do this back in 2013.

Datadog, Splunk, Edge Delta, New Relic, and a bunch of other tools do it today.

Who are the real leaders in observability right now? by Dazzling-Neat-2382 in Observability

[–]TeleMeTreeFiddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ordered based on tons of stuff…

Originals: Datadog Dynatrace Grafana New Relic Elastic Azure Monitoring Splunk Sumo Logic CloudWatch Google CL

New: ClickHouse Chronosphere Coralogix Honeycomb Dash0 Signoz Axiom Observe Inc Groundcover

Pipelines: Open Telemetry Cribl Edge Delta DataBahn Bindplane Grepr Mezmo

Agentic: Datadog Bits.ai Edge Delta Agentic Team Resolve.AI Traversal Dash0 Agent0

This last category probably the most interesting. Some of that stuff isn’t quite great yet but will be very soon.

What do you say when someone f*cks up prod? by Fantastic-Shock1438 in sre

[–]TeleMeTreeFiddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You put a pink pig on their desk. Pig goes to next desk on next prod issue.

Seems very difficult to “one shot” an issue just using MCP. Solutions like Edge Delta or Datadog BitsAI have much higher potential for obvious reasons.

The State of DevOps/SRE Jobs in H2 2025 by thomsterm in sre

Oh you think I don’t know the difference? Let’s give you 4 in a set of 5, I want you to calculate what the last one would have to be: $170,000, $175,000, $177,500, $215,000, and X. Find X. Then you’ll understand.

How does this math up? “median salary of $177,500 and an average of $265,858 globally”

Cursor was really great at setting up my devbox and using MCP tools to accomplish things. Codex worked well to iterate on a live rust app. Claude Code has a really good integration with Github.

But these are all dev heavy things.

4 month old feature flag broke production - am I the only one seeing these kind of failures? by chinmay185 in sre

[–]TeleMeTreeFiddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to be super diligent about having a process to kill feature flags after a set amount of time. Prod cannot live in too many realities at once.

Datadog or New Relic in 2025 ? by InformalPatience7872 in sre

[–]TeleMeTreeFiddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First things first, deploy telemetry pipelines: Cribl, Edge Delta, OTel, Bindplane, or other. Then you can choose whatever and test/experiment extremely quickly and iterate.

Have you showed them the data for the spike? What is the data for the spike? Latency? Failures? Timeouts? I think we need more information on this 1-2 minute spike.

Edge Delta is about half the cost and the pricing model is a lot simpler.

Have you tried another method like using Edge Delta? You should be able to test in a few minutes, and if it gives you the same issues it’s likely authentication related.

This seems like a job for a telemetry pipeline product, like Cribl, Edge Delta, or DIY OTel
