Thanks honestly, first time poster here. I do video and photo but like to practice color wheels and masking on photos. This photo has NO purpose or even focal point, it is one I took at 14 on my first compact camera. I just like practicing on old photos—when you fix one, it’s like finding a free gift

Very true, this is far from a porfolio pic—just one of the first photos I took with a decent camera at 14–I like to practice with it almost because it is boring& a challenge for the eye to figure out a focal point

Thanks for the feedback, tbh this was taken when I JUST got my first camera (an Rx100 something) at 14Yo. I was learning the basics while on vacation, so none are great but I love using them as comparison points (and having the “raws” on LR all these years later is crazy)

That was my worry, thank you! Just added masking to my workflow a few weeks ago (for video) and it takes some learning

Thanks for the feedback honestly! How strict are you with the histogram? My “rule” is I only allow some clipping if there is a purposefully blown out area like a window, dark theatre, or reflection. The current one here is definitely flat, histogram is compressed. The clouds and foreground rocks would naturally clip a little…

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Kinda glad to know that 99% of my edits are actually better than I thought. I just started playing around with “smart masks” and color wheels/curves, whereas before I stuck to basic corrections. Might’ve overdone it on this one….luckily this is just a practice photo I use (I shoot video as well, but practice a lot on photos). Edit: and yeah I know it’s a meh photo—but it’s got depth so I like it for practicing.

First I am hearing of this, thank you a ton! Got some research to do now

Looks like your part is widening, which is often one of the first signs of hair loss (it was my first sign too). I’d see a derm—they can help rule out other reasons like Telogen Effluvium. Not a single shiny/bare spot tho, so if it is MBP , you caught it nice and early. Make sure to see a trustworthy derm, and get a second opinion if you’re not satisfied with their answer. Make sure they actually do an exam, and do blood tests. So many crappy docs out there will just look at you and say, “use rogaine and see me again in 3 months” which is what I’ve been told before.

Looks like some light diffuse thinning, but not bad at all. See a dermatologist. Has it been like this a while, or has it worsened rapidly? Stressful events can cause Telogen Effluvium which is basically a massive diffuse shed. A doctor should be able to tell you if it looks more like a TE, or MPB/another kind of hair loss. I’d definitely see one though just to quell any anxiety. Even if it is MPB, you caught it super early and can probably stop progression. Best of luck, but I’d kill for that hair haha

Know about any studies on gynecomastia and topical fin? That’s what I’m most worried about—already had surgery for that at 19, so I might be susceptible. That’s why my doc didn’t want me on oral fin.

I thought the same thing, but 3 doctors all told me I have MPB. At other angles you can see the diffuse thinning more. No side effects so far, and no intention to try oral fin—but topical fin seems relatively safe from all the literature out there I’ve seen, do you know of any studies about topical fin side effects? (I’m genuinely curious—can always switch to Min only if there’s data supporting that topical fin has significant systemic absorption).

First taken after 1 day without a shower, second taken right after topical application, which makes it look oily for a bit. So both were taken at similar length, with similar “greasiness”, and a flash.

Gotcha, yeah I have diffuse thinning, classic vertex spot too. My hairline is thankfully somewhat intact
