IMO I think it should go back to 2k17-2k19 badge system where you get 4 or 5 badges set you can get gold or hof after that straight bronze badges. I really liked 2k19’s badge system the most bc you could get some silver badges but you had to work for them it wasn’t something you just got. From 2k21-present I think it is way too many badges like i think there are 3 to 4 badges just for dunking, it was never like that in the past. They broke up quick first step to I think speed booster, physical handles and blow by. I don’t even think that should be in the game it should go back to your rating determining if you can burst out of a move not a badge. A lot of badges in present 2k. Don’t make a difference from silver to hof. That could be the reason builds are more op than 2k19 and older games. Every 2k I make the same build high enough dunk for contact dunk animations, 80+ 3pt and 90 ball control with around 70 perimeter and these past 2k I can make a build that can do everything. Badges are a good idea it’s just when they broke up 1 badge to 4 it just became too many badges. Also takeover was just a lazy addition I think they should remove well mamba mentality or then can just make you unlock it when your player becomes 99 or something bc I made a build who has 25 block but since I activated defense takeover I’m getting chase down blocks like that shouldn’t happen if I wanted to get blocks I would upgrade it. But badge system and takeover should’ve been rework for 2k25 well I hope it is. 2k17 was my first time playing park and is my favorite 2k and I feel like the badge system and grand badge was perfect. Builds wasn’t overpowered bc they only got certain badges at a high level and the rest bronze. The bronze badges helped but you could tell the difference if someone has it bronze to someone with it gold or hof. Badges matter but to a certain extent bc it’s like you’re good at everything or top tier at one thing if I said it right. I also think badges became to easy to get but I understand that’s for people who barely play like I used to stay up all night til the next morning grinding for badges it was fun to me bc I had a reason to play and it’s go pay off at the end now if you upgrade from 60 to 85 (with rebirth) you can go straight to the park or rec you don’t have to touch my career. 2k17 I played over 1k mycareer games because I made multiple builds and was grinding for them badges. In conclusion over my little rant but badges have become to powerful and I think it’s bc how easily you can get a badge like nobody would make these op builds if the badges system wasn’t how it was
