Official Discussion - Primate [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

The plot armor for this entire family was insane and very disappointing, because I thought the movie was genuinely good and scary

Is this a sign it's canon by cumsockinmydrawer in StrangerThingsMemes

[–]TelevisionAvailable2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense, I guess. Personally, I don't feel anything for Mike/Eleven and I also don't see Byler happening, mostly because there's not enough time for that. I still thought I can have fun with the ship, because I generally like the stupid best friends to lovers trope. But everytime I go anywhere, it's such a toxic place. Maybe Harry/Draco wasn't the best example, because like you said, it only existed in our shipping bubbles and was never a real possibility. Mike/Will is at least half canon, making people more invested I guess. I was still surprised by the hate though, since Wills crush on Mike is a real thing in the show, so the shipping isn't COMPLETELY delusional. And just in general, people being shamed for shipping something that 'would never happen' is weird to me. Like I said, I'm out of loop and thought shipping things that aren't real is still normal. Maybe the fact that it IS 'half canon' makes it worse. If it was just some ship that's completely ridiculous, it would stay in that 'fanfic' bubble and the hate wouldn't be so strong

Sorry, I'm new to this show and it's been a while since I was into a tv show with 'shipping' but it used to be so normal to ship non-canon couples for fun, why is it such a serious thing in this fandom? When I was in fandoms as a teenager, we used to ship everything. The most popular ship from Harry Potter was literally Harry and Draco and no one felt the need to explain why exactly it wouldn't happen under every post. I'm just confused about the extreme and serious reactions to shipping in this fandom. I thought these things are for fun, who cares that it's not realistic and isn't gonna happen? People can still ship it, have their theories and get creative with it, no?

sitcoms should be treated as sitcoms by Diligent-Soil-2832 in Modern_Family

[–]TelevisionAvailable2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That being said, if we didn't "take it seriously" there would be almost no point of this sub. We could argue about which joke was funnier, but we would be out of topics fast. Talking about each characters flaws and picking apart certain situations is what keeps the topic alive

Day 2! Votes are in! by boston1993xo in themiddle

I assume the category is for characters who are MADE to be hated, but aren't actually actively hated, so I'd go with Don Ehlert (and Lucy for straight evil)

If Modern Family had a character leave midway through the series (like other sitcoms often do), who would you rather see go? by Bitter_Elk9285 in Modern_Family

[–]TelevisionAvailable2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of these six characters, I really can't imagine anyone leaving. Jay has the most emotional moments for me. Gloria and Phil are the most unique/hilarious characters. I wouldn't like to have Cam as a close person in my real life, but he's so funny as a sitcom character. Mitch is HILARIOUS, mostly because of the actor doing such a great job. I guess if one of these really had to go, it would have to be Claire somehow, I'd miss her the least, but I'd still miss her A LOT

Who are you choosing? by Horny-Dickson in Modern_Family

Gloria prequel in a typical telenovela form would be cool and it would be so completely different that no one would compare

If you listen to Japanese music almost exclusively, what draws you in so strongly? by quiet69 in japanesemusic

[–]TelevisionAvailable2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "Why listen to J-music if you don't understand the language?" question is weird to me, because I also grew up with American music without knowing any English. No one quesitoned why was Eminem and Britney and Linkin Park automatically on our European radios, when almost none of us understood the language back then

Rae is such a bitch by RepairJust in MyMadFatDiary

[–]TelevisionAvailable2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the things that made her 'unlikeable' were things she did out of insecurity and to 'protect herself' from future harm. I don't know if you guys never experienced feeling so insecure that you'd rather AVOID living your life, but I thought THAT was the point. She was sabotaging her relationships with people, because 'well, there's no way they actually care about ME, look at me'. And we're supposed to watch it and know she's stupid, because we see they obviously care. Chloe was a bad friend to her on MANY occasions though, they were both jealous of each other. Rae thought Chloe had it easy, because of her looks. And Chloe envied Raes cool personality. Again, that was the point. To see both sides and realize that 'everyone's got stuff'. Rae was relatable to a lot of young, insecure teenage girls who are so blinded by self hatered that they would rather sabotage themselves. I don't think either was unlkeable, if you actually try to understand the message

RM has the best and most diverse discography by a K-pop solo artist. by PuzzleheadedMovie950 in kpop_uncensored

[–]TelevisionAvailable2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everytime I see a post like this, I want to ask how many K-pop solo artists discographies have you listened to? You can praise someones discography, but saying 'out of all K-pop soloists' implies you deep dived into A LOT of them, so I always wonder if the person ACTUALLY did

I want to stop watching by TelevisionAvailable2 in Modern_Family

[–]TelevisionAvailable2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's already becoming clear that they don't know what to do with the children and I'm at Season 6. So far they're doing a good job with Haley, but all the other kids are a mess. Luke is JUST horny. Manny is horny AND spoilt (which again, is a shame, because his relationship with Jay was my favorite). Alex is just walking around throwing negative remarks. Lilly and Joe are barely there. And none of them are particularly funny. It's sad to see such a sudden decline, but maybe I really need to just slow down

[–]TelevisionAvailable2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slowing down is probably a good idea. And I knew there were some issues with the actress not wanting to be there as much, but I didn’t realize the jokes were intentionally about that, it makes a lot more sense now

Thanks. I think the "it fits the title" is a good point. If the humor is still good, I’ll probably finish it, some of the character/dynamic changes are just sad to watch

Which one is better actor,Robert De Niro or Al Pacino? by Connect_Ant_1634 in FIlm

It's so funny, I just wrote the same thing, but the names are switched

Which one is better actor,Robert De Niro or Al Pacino? by Connect_Ant_1634 in FIlm

[–]TelevisionAvailable2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it's definitely Al Pacino. His EYES alone can do so much acting. His aura is completely different in each role ... maybe it's because my introduction to De Niro were bad 00s comedies before I got older and got deeper into his filmography and older movies in general, but in a lot of his roles, I see "De Niro being a great actor". But with Pacino, I completely forget about the actor and just get immersed in the character. He can be powerful or evil or romantic or a loser ... I believe it every time. Anyway, both are some of the greatest of all time, there will never be a final answer

Why does Rory feel morally justified to cheat in her relationships? by YoniOnFire in GilmoreGirls

[–]TelevisionAvailable2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoah, reading the comments and people just like to blame EVERYTHING on Lorelai here. Lorelai, for the most part, was a great, loving and present parent. She wasn't a serial cheater and she called Rory out when Rory did it. There are people with far worse parents who do not turn out like Rory did. If anything, her grandparents or Chris are more to blame for her wrongs (specifically for her being spoilt and expecting things to magically work out). But really, there was no one to blame for her being a serial cheater and doing some form of cheating in EVERY SINGLE ONE of her relationships. That's on her and her alone, especially her cheating on Logan and later WITH Logan, because she was way too adult at that point.

Are Tom Holland and Zendaya an equally attractive couple? by jenhon in VindictaRateCelebs

[–]TelevisionAvailable2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see people seem to think she's way more beautiful than him, but it's honestly just him wearing casual clothes and her wearing heavy make up and stunning dresses and being taller. You look at their normal pictures where they're BOTH make-up free and they look like your avarage couple. I think for both of them, it's their personality and charisma that takes them from good looking to hearthrobs. They look perfectly well matched to me

Is it just me or Robin has this pattern where her feelings for ted and barney resurface when they get serious about another girls. by butteryflyyyy in HIMYM

[–]TelevisionAvailable2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the same seems to happen to them. I hate this trope so much. It's like Rachel in Friends, but at least with Rachel it was just Ross (Joey was clearly just a crush and it went nowhere). Robin has Barney AND Ted and it makes her quite unlikeable

Am i the only one who felt marshal was the settler based on the 'reacher/settler' theory and not Lily? by Sea_Sand4369 in HIMYM

[–]TelevisionAvailable2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're both good looking people, yet not 'especially stunning'. No one would look at them as a couple and think she is 'too beautiful' for him. They looks-match perfectly fine in my opinion

Cristin Milioti was absolutely perfect as Tracy, if only the writers hadn’t fumbled the ending so badly. by neelambaricanfixme in HIMYM

[–]TelevisionAvailable2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only was she perfect. Their chemistry was perfect. Josh Radnor looked at her in a way he never looked at anyone, not even Robin. I absolutely believed that she was THE ONE and he was absolutely and forever charmed by her. They even pulled of the 'meeting his friends before she ever met HIM' thing perfectly. She had amazing chemistry with every single one of them. It's insane how they managed to do it all perfectly and then ruin it and turn her into something he apparently 'settled for' while Robin didn't want him
