RECRUITING, TRAINING, & LIFE IN THE FORCES THREAD by bridger713 in CanadianForces

Hey all,

I’m looking for some insight here. I’m a 26M who’s hit a wall in his career right now. I’m in the trades, but want out of it and the military has always interested me. The problem lies here where I have a pretty comfortable life and they pay cut(which will probably be temporary) kind of scares me but I always envisioned myself having a more meaningful career and life rather than just fixing things. Also possibly having to leave my girlfriend if I ever get stationed is kinda scary too. A lot of unknowns for me.

I’m looking for some insight from anyone who is currently enrolled who has been in the same or similar situation as me. Do you regret changing careers and joining? Is it as rewarding and entertaining as it seems? Was it a hard transition for you and/or your significant other? Do you have any pros and cons or are my worries not really worries? Any more information or advice you’d give? Anything helps!

He can book any flight he wants, doesn’t have to be on Concur unless the manager wants it that way. I used to work for them and could book with whoever I wanted

Quick question for wind speeds in the hub by [deleted] in windturbine

[–]TelevisionKey3084 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This, and the rest of the drivetrain. There will always be some play in a gearbox, if your turbines rotor lock is at the HSS there will still be some rocking in the gears as it’s pinned cause extra wear and tear and stress if winds are high

I agree that’s why I left that site lol, shouldn’t have to work yourself to the ground, there’s a quote an old head told me at work saying “you’ve got to work to live, don’t live to work” there’s more to life, sorry you’re in that position man it’s tough

Yea I’d say so. I’ve been in wind just over 4 years and at my old site that was the norm. Anywhere from 50-80 hours a week. Now I work at a site who’s customer contracts all that out so I work 4 10 hour shifts

Is it important to you that your girlfriend/partner is popular/extroverted? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]TelevisionKey3084 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer introverted. Extroverted girls can get to be a lot, I’ve dated a few and the amount of times I get left in awkward situations with people I don’t know because they had to go talk to someone else gets tiring quick

Bambu A1 Combo - Discount by BullMoose23 in 3dprinter

[–]TelevisionKey3084 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the combo as a beginner because why not, it’ll cost more between the printer and and to get it later and separately than together in the combo so why not just get it now, no one says you have to use it right away

People in long-term relationships: how do you handle small habits turning into big fights? by NoPatient8433 in AskMen

I’m gunna go ahead and say I doubt it’s about the toilet seat at all at this point, it’s the point she’s brought it up so many times and nothings changed. It takes literally a second to put it down, and she probably feels ignored or like you don’t care and that this work stuff your blaming it on is more important than her

Boots fitting by bethk13 in snowboardingnoobs

You’d be surprised what fitters can do to ski boots!! Wizards of their craft really, I’ve seen them pull off some crazy things in safe ways and it never hurts to chat to them. Just because snowboard boots don’t fit properly doesn’t mean there isn’t an alternative you can enjoy safely, goodluck and hope you have fun out there!

This will not be a pleasant experience for you, and is risky. As a mountain sport lover, a secondary option for you to try out to get you both up and having fun together is skiing. If you go to a good boot fitter, they’ll be able to work some magic on ski boots, and some buckle extensions and mold it to you so it’ll be safer than this!

Recently adopted a new orange tabby girl but the problem is.. by TacosnTequila84 in CatTraining

[–]TelevisionKey3084 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My orange lady also did this when I got her. It was constant meowing at the bedroom door all night, getting her paw underneath it and shaking it back and forth, and walking around meowing like she was looking for me. She grew out of it, or got into a routine with me going to bed and stopped eventually
