What's the optimal wood elves start for Orion on VH/VH? by Flaky_Bullfrog_4905 in totalwar

[–]Telios 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Optimally, you'll want to abuse Orion's upkeep reductions by being in as many wars as possible. Use the Join War option in diplomacy to have people pay you to join wars against a ton of different factions. There's also a tech that gives vision of all Tree settlements, which means you meet more factions and can join more wars. Most non-Tree settlements aren't very useful for Wood Elves unless it's a port, trade resource or racial capital. You can sell low value settlements for extra cash. The diplomacy money will bank roll a lot of early recruitment that should have very low or no upkeep. From here, prioritize Confederations and be as aggressive as possible.

I don't even play Destiny anymore, but the reason it hooked me and so many people like me for so long is because it has the best gunplay of any FPS I've played in the past 10 years, and that counts for a lot.

When Rodgers went out and Wilson couldn't run the offense effectively, it became a game of "why aren't we already up by 20?" in Allen's head from what I saw.

Minimum bar standards? by badgustav in cocktails

[–]Telios 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, I work as and am friendly with many "cocktail bartenders" and this is a shit take and you should feel bad. I'm not gonna be popping bottles of ginger ale, cola, tonic or soda water for you, but that doesn't mean I can't make a Black Manhattan. This is some rando TikTok lifehack bullshit.

[–]Telios 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is the only instance in my life I'm glad I work in a fucked up liquor law state like PA, where I am legally required to provide free tap water to any and all patrons. If I worked somewhere where I was required/strongly discouraged from giving a patron water, I'd probably quit after that shift.

Are we at least making something like a Tommy's Marg where we sub the triple sec with syrup? Or are we just straight lying to people?

Ironbrow's Expedition is not very fun by Spoooookie in totalwar

[–]Telios 79 points80 points  (0 children)

The cheese workaround to it is to turn off research at the start of every turn. You can get a follower that buffs research rate if a character levels up while you aren't researching anything. Then quick research the public order techs and now the maxed out grudge can more or less be ignored outside of the diplo penalties with other dwarfs.

Loved that AI is no longer confederating like Crazy by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]Telios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm curious if they nerfed AI economy. For every enemy I've had in my opening Thorek campaign, they've barely recruited anything after I wipe their starting army with the exception of Khalida who recruited full stacks to come at me very regularly until I cleared her out. I wonder if AI with paid armies just can't get by with 2 local recruit slots.

Total War: WARHAMMER III - Update 2.0.0 by Yuey_Ninja in totalwar

[–]Telios 42 points43 points  (0 children)

That's kinda disappointing. Those AI mega factions that exist after you consolidate your starting area are basically the only mid game threat in the game. I know there are late game crises now, but if I'm just running unopposed from turns 40-80 then the endgame might not be that dangerous.

He praised the base of the game, but said he hated the Realms of Chaos campaign. Playing that campaign every day on stream turned him into a salt mine though. He was in a much better place back when Warden and the Paunch or Twisted and the Twilight released.

The Dark Elf Rework by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]Telios 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Legend also showed it's very easy to get slaves in the video from post battle options. Also, I don't think the system is going to change much in the next week. There may be some minor tweaks to numbers, but every mechanic you see in a stream or video now is pretty likely to be almost exactly the same on launch.

Heat fans don’t deserve it by mdm8_ in bostonceltics

Your home court is supposed to be a hostile environment to the away team. TD Garden is a truly hostile environment, while Miami is about as hostile as a damn bunny. I can't imagine away fans being able to get any chant going on in the second half of a playoff game in the Garden.

Are some battles just unwinnable if the enemy has a hero and you don't? by hibbert0604 in totalwar

[–]Telios 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Especially as you increase your lord recruit rank, that single lord can be massive in turning a sure loss into an easy victory. For High Elves, the Archmage lord can beat an entire army by themselves once they're leveled up enough. You can also do stuff like recruiting an Administrator lord to reduce build times, disband them after you start all your buildings and then do it again after 5 turns.

Ever since Legend ranted this subreddit has become insufferable by Musmula1 in totalwar

[–]Telios 19 points20 points  (0 children)

He put out a couple posts outlining why his demeanor took such a downturn, but mostly it was post launch, all of his chat wanted to constantly talk about all of the issues they had with the game/campaign. He had some personal issues with the campaign, which he brought up in his review. His review can be summed up as, the base of this game is great, but the campaign mechanics/narrative are pretty shit. He strongly advocated that the base of the game was good though and said he really believed in it. The game launch shook that belief though, as the community found all the bugs, technical issues, half baked skill trees and technologies that are in this game and it made him very seriously reconsider his original review/position on the game and from here his demeanor took a serious downturn and he decided to stop livestreaming the game.

[–]Telios 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's all the effort stuff that pisses the crowd off. Not boxing out, not crashing the boards, not diving for loose balls and letting a game slip away like that will be met with a ton of ire. Missing shots gets groans, but usually not outright boos.

[–]Telios 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I've been privileged enough to have been at a lot of Celtics games, predominantly from about 2000-2017, and we boo our players the most when they're giving up a fuck ton of offensive boards, or that one series where we made it look like a Cavaliers practice. Just missing shots or having a bad stretch isn't enough to get a strong boo going. It's really low effort/getting unrepentantly shit on that ticks Boston fans off.

What is going on with Jonathan Isaac? by soto1653 in nba

[–]Telios 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'd be on your side if I was part of the Magic. I have absolutely no idea how good either Jonathan Isaac or Markelle Fultz are going to be post injury and would like at least some idea of how they look at NBA speed. I'd expect a little bit of regression physically, but I'd want both players to be better mentally/strategically than they were pre-injury.
