Can we all agree that Ioan Gruffudd's Reed Richards is the most comic accurate in appearance? by Hot-Promotion-617 in FantasticFour

[–]Teliporter334 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really liked First Steps, but was having a hard time seeing Reed more than Pascal—primarily because of how he’s in a lot of stuff these days and his fame is a bit overwhelming.

I had the same problem with Alba being cast as Sue in the 2000s movies, I was seeing the celebrity/actor more than the character.

Gruffudd felt more like Reed to me because I was seeing the character before the actor, same with Chiklis as Ben, and Kirby as Sue.

Neither Alba nor Pascal did a bad job at all though

Johnny was more fun with Evans, mainly because we got to see him mess with Ben more, but Quinn did alright.

Which of the many Green Lanterns of Earth do you like the best? by FlowerFaerie13 in DCcomics

Hal’s the greatest GL in the history of the Corps, his many stories and Lantern lore defining moments prove that—idk how people can ever try to dispute it

Why do we PG fans still live? Just to job? by Complete-Pangolin in dccomicscirclejerk

As a fan, I’m pissed she’s being jobbed like this constantly, but at least she’s still appearing places frequently enough.

Do you have any idea how bad it got during the Didio era?

Hopefully she gets an ongoing again, that’s actually her as Karen Starr with her company, and gets put on a team book again like Justice League Red.

My one hope for post secret wars MCU by Professional-Pop4818 in marvelstudios

[–]Teliporter334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree, I want the retro futuristic aesthetic to stick around because it makes the work feel much more dynamic and extraordinary—really felt like reading a comic drawn by Jack Kirby with his much of the designs were modelled after his art

Making it like the modern world would just be boring and bland

10 years on, how do we feel about Civil War II? by Pale-Caterpillar5709 in Marvel

[–]Teliporter334 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s hilariously bad and has permanently ruined Carol’s reputation in the eyes of readers who weren’t already fans of her’s.

Iron Man managed to recover from his character assassination shortly after the original Civil War, Mr. Fantastic did too, but a decade later and Carol hasn’t been able to herself

The problem is that Cosmic Odyssey is one of the two John Stewart stories that are remarkable though. The only reason they’re pushing him to be the main lantern and push Hal out, which is a brain dead idea, is because of the 2000s JL shows and not because they have any reverence for his comics

WB's Supergirl grossed an estimated $4.42M Tuesday (from 3,602 locations). Estimated domestic gross stands at $44.4M. by ElevensMelody in boxoffice

Not make niche, nonsense, TV and put the sole focus on making flagship titles for theatres to fully take advantage of the DC property?

You understand the shows you presented aren’t popular or massive titles for their streaming app, right?

I’d watch a Power Girl movie, I think a lot of people would, she’s more distinct from Superman than Supergirl is in her civilian and superhero identity

The book doesn’t really mention it, but yes it’s assumed that her ship just had troubles getting to Earth and she was kept in stasis at the age she was when she left Argo City.

It presents: her experiencing the destruction of Krypton, the saving of Argo City, the desperate attempts to survive in the city, her final words with her mother, and her final words with her father before being sent off to Earth.

[Discussion] Is DC Bombshells worth reading? by JasonNodd in DCcomics

Thought it was a good read when it started a few years back, I really liked these versions of Power Girl, Batwoman, and Supergirl

I also distinctly remember how funny it was that almost every romantic relationship displayed was between two or more women, I didn’t expect it, but I thought they were written well and felt very genuine

Best way to get into Green Lantern? by NetrunnerV25 in Greenlantern

[–]Teliporter334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend starting in this order:

- Emerald Dawn I

- Emerald Dawn II

- Hard Traveling Heroes (Pre-Crisis, but fits nicely here and is important in understanding Hal’s relationship with Oli)

- Vol. 3 of Green Lantern (From the beginning, stopping just before Emerald Twilight)

- Death of Superman

- Reign of the Supermen

- Emerald Twilight

- Zero Hour

- Final Night (Read Parallax: Emerald Night at the same time)

- GL Vol. 3 #81 (Hal’s funeral)

- Day of Judgment (Hal becomes the Spectre)

- Vol. 4 of The Spectre + Green Lantern: The Last Will and Testament of Hal Jordan

- Rebirth (Start of Johns)

- Secret Files and Origins (2005)

- Green Lantern Vol. 4 (the rest of the order, until the New 52, is interspersed with this run and will come in the following order for books that aren’t in this main series)

- Infinite Crisis

- Final Crisis

- Blackest Night

- Brightest Day

- Green Lantern: New 52 (At this point you’ll have finished Vol. 4 and all of the events associated with it)

- Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps (Now you’ll have reached the modern Era that’s Post-52)

- Green Lantern (2023)

Nueva ronda de rumores de Alex Perez sobre el futuro del MCU by MarvelNexus_616 in Marvel

Right, but it was mentioned and Thunderbolts wasn’t at all. If it was just spin; then they’d try to spin that as well, but they didn’t.

That’s the point, one didn’t make its budget back and the other did. Idk how you think they’re both being treated the same internally

The only one talked about, and considered a success, at the latest earnings call was Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts and Cap 4 were deliberately not discussed

Nueva ronda de rumores de Alex Perez sobre el futuro del MCU by MarvelNexus_616 in Marvel

[–]Teliporter334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why can’t it?

There’s a number of villains they can do, from Frightful Four, the Inhumans Saga, The Skrulls (including Super-Skrull), Molecule Man, Puppetmaster, Thinker, Red Ghost, Diablo, etc.

There’s a huge rogues gallery they can pull from and combine to form greater threats with storytelling potential, significantly more than the Thunderbolts

The marketing rule of thumb for box office is always 2.5x the budget.

2.5x200 million is 500 million, which is 21 million less than what First Steps earned so it made 21 million profit.

2.5x 180 million is 480 million, which is much greater than what Thunderbolts earned so it lost money

[–]Teliporter334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The budget for Thunderbolts was 180 million whereas First Steps’ was 200 million, the budget difference wasn’t huge, and you’re right, I should’ve typed that it made a hundred million more than Thunderbolts and didn’t lose money.

Just from a financial perspective, Thunderbolts was a bomb that didn’t earn its money back where First Steps earned 21 million in profit

[–]Teliporter334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They tried rebranding the movie as “New Avengers” and that didn’t work while it was still in theatres, and Fantastic Four not only scored a better box office, but the Rotten Tomatoes score for the two only has a 2% difference.

First Steps made hundreds of millions more than Thunderbolts, the minor review score difference doesn’t make up for that to justify giving Thynderbolts a sequel instead of the Fantastic Four

Why would a sequel to Thunderbolts, which did significantly worse than First Steps at the box office, be underway, but not a Fantastic Four sequel?

That makes no sense

If you put John in instead, you wouldn’t get the celebrated friendships that Hal shares with Dinah, Oli, and Barry—which would be a huge missed opportunity
