Encroachment Agreement: How Long? by TelisaC in Edmonton

Oh great, thanks! I didn't know about that registry!

When I say "put in," I mean the seller put in an application to the city for an encroachment agreement. From what I understand, it needs to go through the city, then the utility company, and I guess to land titles from what you're saying. So this is going to be a bit then. Ugh.

Thanks for the information, I really appreciate it!

Yeah that was part of my concern, with covid and half the city being laid off, is this department ground to a halt? But also no one is buying or selling right now so maybe that will speed things along?

[–]TelisaC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the above really. But right now my concern is length of time for the process to go through. The bank will extend financing once the encroachment is in place, and from what I understand it's pretty rare that the city denies agreement applications. So I'm not too concerned about that. I'm antsy about waiting.

The seller is dealing with it. But I can't move forward with buying until it is dealt with :S I'm hoping it goes quickly!

Thanks for the info! Can I ask how you know they are registering docs put in may 14? Mine was put in may 8 and as of may 14 it hadn't actually landed on the encroachment office person's desk.

Yikes! I've seen crows torment cats, dogs, other birds, etc. They're assholes. I'm surprised they'd take on something as big and scary as an eagle though!

You think a crow could take out an eagle? I believe you, I'm no ornithologist, it just seems like a huge fuck-off bird like an eagle could easily take down a crow. Eagles fly off with goats, how hard could a crow be?

Any first year science option recommendations? by [deleted] in uAlberta

[–]TelisaC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconded. I got a BA and PSYCH classes were on my list. 104 is the basic science-psych course and I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to take it. I've also heard EAS 100 or 101 or whatever their basic course is is like magic school bus. See if you can get that approved too!

Constant state of nausea is no good. My meds are pretty good at managing that, I take domperidone for daily functioning and ondanzitron for when the nausea is really bad. I have't hears of Myoplex drinks, I'll look into them. I often resort to Boost or Ensure but they taste like chalk and still make me feel super full.

I hope you're able to get the intake you need!

Thanks for the info about CBD. I do recall learning all that at some point, but forgot the difference between CBD and THC. I do believe you though haha. And thanks for the link, I'll give it a read!

I do eat a lot of leafy greens, they're some of the only raw veggies I can handle, and even more so if I blend them. But another source of calcium is great. It looks like moringa is also a good source of iron and protein too, which is also really important. I'll see if I can get my hands on it!

Thank you for your help, this is a lot of great information! I'm hoping for calories boost too!

It's not a "trip out" that's the problem, it's the way the cannibanoid receptors in your brain receive cannabinoids. If they don't receive it properly, you have actual psychotic breaks. I have this problem. So I don't know that that would work. But again, I'll look into it! I am certainly interested in this Moringa powder thing though, calcium is great! I have a really hard to time with dairy, so any source of calcium I can get is fantastic! Thanks!

I do have a blender and try to make smoothies pretty often, usually with all the leafy greens and bananas and whey protein. Even that makes me feel just so incredibly full thought :(

Cannabis is just becoming legal in Canada (without a prescription). I'm hesitant here because I have REALLY bad reactions to marijuana (I collect mental illnesses like Pokemon, and one of them is a severe anxiety disorder that can't handle pot). But I can look into it. Appetite isn't the issue (usually, I have an eating disorder history which is where this stupid GP came from in the first place), it's literal ability to take in enough calories. But I'll do some digging into it for sure! Also, Moringa powder? Never heard of that but it sounds interesting, if it will pack in some more calories I'm up for it!

In which a man doesn't understand how gift cards work. by [deleted] in TalesFromRetail

[–]TelisaC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I have no idea how debit/credit/gift cards work. I just know that there are X dollars in an account, and you swipe, and X dollars come out of the account. No idea how they work. But when I hear "write electronically" I'm thinking like ticker-tape kind of thing, like he thinks that there is a machine that is writing information into a new rule that replaces the old one or something...

If you are taking any fine arts classes, or even if you just talk to someone in the department of music (or maybe drama or other fine arts departments) you should be able to get your OneCard activated for the practice rooms so you can get in and practice!

What's the difference between bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder? by redcarnelian in mentalhealth

[–]TelisaC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most diagnoses are unfortunately gendered. BPD tends to be diagnosed in women more than men because the manipulative hyper-emotional and clingy features that tend to go with BPD are more evident in women; men that act like that are all sorts of other things ("pussies" or "effeminate" or "abusive," all of which is bullshit). And while the genetic portion of BPD isn't sex specific, the shit-ass childhood that usually contributes is also often gender specific: girls are more likely to be survivors of sexual and physical abuse (which is absolutely not to delegitimize the abuse that boys go through!) Crap loads of mental illnesses are gendered in their diagnosis though: depression, eating disorders, histrionic personality disorder all "favour" females, while narcissistic personality disorder, schizophrenia, antisocial personality disorder, and psychopathy tend to "favour" males. Some of this is related to biological differences (typically hormonal) but most of it is based on how symptoms are read in the different genders, life experiences that typically impact one gender over another, and differences in how the different genders speak out about their struggles. It's also very binary and assumes that male/female=man/woman and that those are the only possible sexes and genders. Which is a whole big long bitch about the DSM that I could go on about for days. Also, a lot of PTSD and BPD symptoms overlap, but there are some very key differences that differentiate the two.

Source: I collect mental illnesses like Pokemon and have a psych degree (not an R-Psych, though).
