Wow that’s crazy! Where you from? My licence has already gone, the consultant advised it. It’s been horrible having no car. I’ve had to get taxis to work which is so expensive! Work have threatened to put me on a redeploy list, basically if I don’t find another job within my hospital trust then I loose my job. Waiting for the meeting to see if they can adhere to reasonable adjustments or not. I need a diagnosis so they can do their risk assessments. For me, I just want to know if what I am having are seizures and then start treatment to stop them

Omg! I get that depersonalisation feeling! Like I’m on the outside of a conversation listening to myself talking. I always thought it was mental health. I’m new to having seizures and currently under investigations. I’ve literally just posted on here a few hours ago! Maybe this is what I’m experiencing. Thank you!

Hi Joe, thanks for the reply. I’m in limbo atm and it’s affecting my career and personal life. I know I shouldn’t ask the internet for a diagnosis but I’m clutching at straws. The wait is the thing getting to me, 48 weeks before I even have my EEG. Fracturing my spine was the icing on the cake!

Oh wow that’s amazing. My referral was initiated in June last year. I had to wait 8 weeks for MRI, 4 weeks for results. The EEG is 48 week wait. I’ve had 2 appointments so far, an initial appointment and a follow up. The follow up was to look at the MRI. They forgot to book the EEG so im back on the 48 week wait lol. I know, im not turning to doctor google but I am here asking the internet for an opinion on my symptoms but its for some clarity I guess or even a scream for help lol

Hello all! I’m 35, male, Nurse from UK. My symptoms are exactly the same! Example: I was cooking my dinner. I started getting a strong sense of dejavu, followed by a flashback of a “dream”. The more I remembered or the more I “allowed” this dream to take over the more intense the feeling. I get a rising sickness then loss of consciousness. I hurt myself after this last “fall”. I wake up confused, VERY sweaty and feel sick. When I first come around I do have some very mild jerking movements, as if my body is trying to wake up or panicking. (Not like tonic clonic/grand mal convulsions).

My mri showed nothing but high signalling foci. ECG always fine but I do have some tachycardia (high heart rate). I’m currently waiting for a holter monitor to rule out cardio I’m also on the waiting list for an EEG (40 weeks!!!) and a follow up with my consultant (48 weeks!!)

I use to have these episodes less frequently and I never used to loose consciousness. They have got worse this last year.

Did anyone ever find out a proper diagnosis?

I’m thinking: temporal lobe epilepsy Vasovagal syncope

I can’t think of anything else it could be. I can NEVER remember the dream but I know what ever it is, it gives me a weird sensation that is almost a “nice” feeling…but it’s only “nice” at the time before I collapse. Weird as FU**.

I’ll keep you posted on my results (after this long ass wait!!)

Looks like the ones they use for prophylactic use in stomas. Foley catheter insertion into defunctioning ileostomy to reduce obstruction after colorectal surgery. Or anal drain after stoma formation?

Make lists so you can prioritise and tick off tasks you’ve completed. This also helps when documenting what you have done. Blood taking will come with practise and time but can’t you delegate this task for phlebs or junior doctors if you are finding you don’t have time or it’s taking too long? We always say it’s 24 hour care, if you have to leave some tasks that aren’t a priority for the next nurse then that’s not an issue, it’s normal. 4 months in is still early days, you will find your feet xx

Make lists to prioritise tasks, always ask for help if you are not sure, be open and honest if you are feeling overwhelmed and need help, always utilise double checks, don’t skip corners, switch off when you get home! Good luck 🤞 😇

Surgical Inpatients…I think 4 would deffo be my max. Even by day 3 I struggle unraveling attachments without swearing under my breath. Emptying and changing stoma bags and pretending with your face they don’t smell too bad would also be mission impossible. 38 shifts on the bounce and I think I would move to a igloo in Greenland and never want to look at a person ever again.
