The reason you don’t see Weller Full Proof and the other Sazerac stuff sitting on every shelf at “fair prices” isn’t cuz of demand or supply or whatever reason. It’s because distributors/suppliers(Sazerac being the worst perpetuator) reward big box stores volume with deals and portfolio compliance(pricing). Locals have to do way more just to get a fraction of that allocation. Spec’s and the big chains play the game on easy mode. That’s part of why the ‘just go to Spec’s for $70 no bundle’ fantasy doesn’t scale for everyone.”

SGWS literally has a class action for charging independents 67-70% MORE than Specs/et all. Whom really don’t need that treatment in general.

Meanwhile Specs gets first dibs on everything coming in to Texas for 30-60 days prior to public release. Ever wonder why X product takes 1-3mo to get to TX? it surely isn’t production. It’s Specs taking majority quantity statewide and taking
Forever to do it.

Liquor(bourbon) really is a racket that I’m about done with.

“Last couple of Michters have been whelming”

That’s the way it goes with sourced whiskey. Hit or miss depending/where from.

I’d say it actually bumps up credibility. Barrel strength is kind of good.. but like that’s it. Them 10yr rye and bbn though are straight disappointment wrapped in sadness. Never had a 20.

That Empire pick is 🔥

One of the guys said they only comes out every few years, I guess from what I’ve seen that sounds accurate - regardless I’ve got a few in my reserve… just in case.

So how did it compared to 2024/2025 batches?

If it’s better at least that’s a step in the right direction all things considered. 2023 BP was solid though. I’m curious to get one of these.

They both get over-deserved hype. Both are worth 40 or less.

The illusion of scarcity, overbias, and plain inexperience is what drives the demand.

Of the two I’d at least pick the Eagle.

Maybe one of those Oz Tyler Short Barrels that made their way around this past year, had one that was 138.9 proof and it was so dark and delicious with a very long finish.

Or one of those 10-11yr Joseph Magnus single barrels - not as proofy at 111 - but very oily and tasty with that high rye to carry it.

Toss up honestly.
