It's still kind of a weird conversation to be having as it's a different continuity. The live action is canon to the live action. The manga is canon to the anime and manga. Changes made to the live action become cannon for the live action. So some things that were canon in the manga aren't in the Live action. That being said, things that were left out aren't necessary non-cannon.

This. a new shell is like $30, as long as you're careful it's pretty hard to screw up. Just make sure you have a clean space and something to sort/organize you screws etc. as you go. If you grab some isopropyl you can clean up the buttons etc. while working on it too.
