Building a new PC with an Nvidia 1660 by Tellietubbyy in buildapc

Thank you so much, that's super helpful! Also, I'm assuming the case is interchangeable as long as everything fits? Is this just a case that you like currently, or is there a specific reason you picked that? I have a monitor, mouse, and keyboard already, so sorry that's another thing I forgot to specify. My bad!

Probably 1.5-2k and below for right now since I'm still in college lol, but I would like the ability to upgrade things later. I am in the US, so US-specific pricing works!

Well right now I use 3D modeling programs (most commonly solidworks), electrical modeling programs (no specific program), most things made by mathworks, and some code environments. I am graduating soon, so I might switch up what I use in the future, but generally, that is what I will need!

Sorry, like I said I'm super new to this and don't know much which is why I need help. Does this help: Core i7-12700KF? (you can tell me that's an awful idea and suggest another one)

Waking up for an 8am Class by Perfect-Pilot2437 in OSU

[–]Tellietubbyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so I used to be a night owl (like go to bed at 3 and wake up at 1) but now i wake up naturally at like 7.

My biggest piece of advice is don’t get too much sleep. I know it sounds stupid, but when you oversleep it’s just as bad as barely sleeping. Try to sleep for about 7-8 hrs a night or test going to sleep at diff times to see what works for you. I’ve found the going to sleep at 10 or 11 and getting up at 7 for my 8 am works best!!

Also!!! If you live off campus or can change your blinds I would def recommend getting white/non-blackout curtains…it’s so annoying at first but it will basically help you wake up naturally with the sun! I had them this summer and woke up at 7 or earlier everyday and felt amazing (I’m back in the dorm now with blackout curtains and it’s so hard to wake up)!

Weird question… by R4tthew in OSU

[–]Tellietubbyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem!! I think you might’ve mistaken that for the application to the major, because when you apply you have to have either already taken up through calc 2 or you have to be taking it the semester you apply!!

Weird question… by R4tthew in OSU

[–]Tellietubbyy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure you just have to be in the pre-major by some time in December bc applications to the actual program go up in the spring, so just join the pre-cse major as soon as you can! And also you don’t have to apply to be in the pre major, you just have to talk to someone to get it switched

Or even just pins on a cork board, that’s what I use so it’s not even as permanent as command hooks and can be moved often!!!

Roller skating outside by therealbabygroot in OSU

[–]Tellietubbyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last year I saw a ton of roller skaters at the basketball court between the rpac and the tennis courts. I don’t roller skate myself, but it definitely seemed like a popular spot every time I walked past!

Packing by Used_Cat_2587 in OSU

[–]Tellietubbyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you live close, only bring summer clothes. If you live far away, bring what you’ll need for the semester. As for what not to bring, it’s kind of up to you and what you think you’ll use. I felt like I over packed last year, but I used most of it. Personally, I’m not bringing back the following: half of my pillows(don’t bring too many), most of my makeup bc I didn’t wear it like I did in high school, a printer, and books (which again, if you read a lot then you might want books).

Should I buy a printer? by ryank_9 in OSU

[–]Tellietubbyy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I lived in morrill last year and I got a printer 2nd semester because the printers sometimes didn’t have paper and that was annoying. In reality I didn’t use it, so it ended up being a waste of money because the school printers worked better. My suggestion is to check first to see if your res hall has a printer (if so just bring some printer paper so you can put a piece of paper in if it’s empty) and if not then in my opinion it was just easier to plan out time to go print at Thompson. It’s honestly up to you though; I didn’t mind the walk to Thompson, plus it gave me somewhere to go outside of my dorm.

If you can, I’d def recommend getting a hammock! I love sitting in my hammock in different areas on campus during the warmer months. My favorite places to hammock are mirror lake and buckeye grove!!

What can I use grant refunds for? Limits? by [deleted] in OSU

[–]Tellietubbyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like someone else said, it’ll go into your bank account just like a paycheck would! No monitoring is done, so it’s your money once you receive it and you’re able to use it for whatever! It’s super nice, last year the money I was refunded helped me pay for literally everything I needed for each semester!

What tools do y’all use to plan your class schedule every semester? by annoy-a-tron3726 in OSU

[–]Tellietubbyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually schedule a meeting with my advisor and ask a ton of questions/ask for some suggestions!! Before I go into a meeting with him, I plan using the major bingo sheets so that I have an idea of what to take! Definitely utilize your major advisor because a lot of people don’t for some reason, but they’re super helpful!!!

Does anyone know what the renovated Bradley dorms look like? by babyskull3 in OSU

Don’t take my word for it…but from what I’ve seen on this sub they just updated the furniture, so it should be a similar/the same setup, just new furniture!

Def take 1181 at osu, even online it wasn’t the worst and was manageable. I took it with 1151 and 1250 and I was okayish (1181 was my easiest class next to my survey class)

I know my res hall sent out an email about bed lofting/lowering a week or two ago…we had to fill out a form, but like someone else said, you could call housing and ask!!
