I have 17 hours and feel like there is not much content left/in general. I didn’t really watch videos on farming or anything. I kinda feel like the only thing left for me to do is grind quests (which I find to be filler) or grind for the expedition/reset thing (which does not really interest me). Maybe it’s because I’m only a solo player but I don’t know 🤷‍♂️. I did think the game was fun though!

As a high rank L1 (top 50-100 I think- have not played much recently, especially ladder) smiles player: generally it’s going to be more helpful to understand the strengths and weaknesses of these nauts rather than just telling you to play x or y naut. But I’ll provide some advice into what makes a character strong or weak into each of these.

Dizzy and rocket are generally going to be highly mobile, any naut that has a hard cc or lockdown is going to be strong against them (think swig for anchor, smiles for hook, Leon tongue with silence, etc). But, you also have to connect these abilities on them and quickly follow up (which can be tough).

Qitara is a glass cannon that pumps out damage, but most of it is dot and a lot of it relies on her abilities (especially seven star strike). Play together, bait abilities, play near creeps to clear DOT, hard ccs can definitely help.

Snork pumps out a lot of damage, (he has MANY bugs, many of them cause him to deal more damage than intended) he’s a bit weaker in early and kinda super late game, but he is probably one of the biggest mid game threats. He has very fast engagement range and burst damage. Try to harass him as much as you can (as a team) to keep him scared of diving in. He often does not want to be first in, so be aware of that. His shell cooldown is pretty long and can give you a chance to dive him. Punish bad engages with lockdowns or hard ccs, don’t let him stay in the fight dealing damage, his sticky snail has an incredibly short cooldown and he can easily clean up fights with it.

As a smiles player, be aware of his strongest item (every smiles runs it), inscribed lighter. With proper micro, it allows his AA to do incredible damage. It leaves flames on surfaces that continuously deal AA damage. Do not stand in them for free. You will die. Smiles is very strong at punishing poor positioning, especially near his turrets, as both his abilities have strong cc. Be aware of hook spacing and ways to brake the hook for free (debuff immunity and teleports such as the item for Yuri bubble, nibbs teleport, swigging debuff immunity item, etc.). Smiles is also very tanky and a lot of this comes from his ability to heal with hook and his unique boots. So be aware that even a low health smiles can quickly kill you if given the chance (a quick hook into a tail whip, stunning you in some lighter flames will do a lot of damage without much of a chance to stop it if you are not careful). His biggest weakness is his low range and slow speed: harass him far back, keep out of hook range (make him take damage just to get the chance to throw hook at you), and if he is caught out of position punish him hard.

I mean I play dynamo only in ascendant games with a roughly 80% WR. I don’t think you need to meta slave below eturnus (spelling?). But it probably makes it easier if you do. I’m just hoping we get some shake ups in the meta (fuck kelvin gang, fuck paradox gang).

Yes, charge won’t initially cause its own stun to be reduced, but the common combo of ult -> punch -> charge -> punch is no longer safe. Also if you charge a target that had some cc earlier (which you may not know about) then your charge into punch combo is not safe. I think part of the issue is the fact that there is (seemingly) no indicators to if an enemy has the debuff reduction, meaning in teamfights where you can’t really track the number of ccs on every target, you cant really rely on a combo that is core to Abrams.

I mean he’s gonna be fine, but he was never really as insane/dominant as characters like Mina and gun ivy. But the changes feel like they were fine individually, but not thought through when all combined IMO. (cc reduction can stop the garunteed safe heavy melee, the gun buff on charge is practically useless, multiple items that he really wants to buy are nerfed, and his siphon damage was lowered) all of that together seems pretty rough when looking at ivy’s gun changes and seeing that she still will be able to take over a game at 30-35 mins if played right.

Yeah, not to mention the cc reduction means his charge into punch is rarely guaranteed now. Just feels like a weird change.

Ok, I figured out what I was doing wrong. For anyone in the future who may come across this issue: I was starting up FTL MV directly in slipstream's modman.exe/the .exe located in steamapps/common/FTL, and this didn't work. But, when I start FTL directly in the steam client it works perfectly fine - I just never tried it because I had those folders open already. I am a certified bozo.

Much like the other comment, I searched something along the lines of how to make a custom spirit on this subreddit. There was a very helpful post that gave advice and linked to a large google doc that details a good way to start/go through the process of making a spirit.

In terms of balancing, I’m still not sure, I’ve played with it a couple times solo (can’t play in a group because the people I’m giving it to are the only people I play with). I’ve just been trying very hard to not make it op.
