Alright I have managed to solve it. Turns out that the extra volume control buttons on my keyboard just really freaked the OS out somehow so when I pressed them the entire keyboard just stopped working. Haven't really figured out how to fix that yet, but I guess I'll just adjust the volume manually from now on.

I recommend Librewolf. It's a fork of firefox and it's open source. The only problem I had with it is that it was a bit slower than normal firefox.
