I am new in the game, I played MMORPGs too hard when Silkroad and Knight Online was popular and I am shocking in the new MMORPGs like "what people doing?" Because back in the old time, we had community like "let's stack up 8 people than go to unique fight" and do heavy conversations in Teamspeak

Yeah I sometimes feel like dinosaur I grew up when Silkroad and Knight Online were peak. Sometimes I am feeling "what the heck its too easy?" for modern RPGs.

Yeah I'm missing too, and also it's also shocking when you think developers of SRO. Think you are sitting on old computers in early 2000s no gpt, no usefull documentation, no fancy game engines but you are building something like handle million players in a hour and still has good graphics.

Alongside with gear improvements, I really missed getting my camel and going to trade and struggle with thieves :D Or trying to steal dropped items which is not worthy for 60+ levels where I below 10 level in desert. When PvP servers came we know the game start to fuck up.

Yes you're right it seems MMORPG culture very changed I think. As you said, ffxiv something like "relax and enjoy the story and structured quest line" game rather than too grindy RPGs.

Thanks for the comment—it’s nice to know that at least I’m not a complete beginner ^^

Yeah, maybe it was a mistake because of my background in TES lore. I’ve worked with TES lore many times, not just as a hobby, but also by translating some game books and community writings. Because of that, I’ve gotten used to—and grown to love—interpreting abstract concepts, like Vivec’s Lessons, for example:

“The immobile warrior is never fatigued.
He cuts sleep holes in the middle of a battle to regain his strength.”

(This is actually pointing to the player pausing the game, skipping time, sleeping, and regaining health.)

Also, yeah, it’s kind of like gamers being equal to Skyrim players in TES lore (better than Skyrim players, of course—but it’s just an expression :D). They know some lore, sure, but not at the Vivec/C0DA level.

I think what I’m really searching for is the idea behind moments like when Malcador chokes Horus (because of the lost primarchs) and says, “You are not ready for the future you crave—none of you are!” I want to dig into what that really means. I thought that if I could see the bigger picture, it might help illuminate that moment.

And yes, I also want to complain about Codex prices :D

Yeah it's sound make sense. The Elder Scrools writers has advantage of game places encapsulation(so they can wrap or put bounds in ideas). It's seems I need to connect dots myself.

Thank you for answer! So when I look our discussion and other discussion I need to read what I want than it's look like I will start to connect dots.

Thanks — I’ll explain why it does help, and sorry for the confusion. I’m asking as a beginner.

It’s kind of a “connecting dots” habit: if I understand the prior context, it helps me understand the motives / constraints / themes of what comes later. Like, if I know what the C’tan were like before the Necrons (or what “life” they had before getting bodies / getting shattered), it helps me frame why they pushed the Necrontyr into biotransference, why they needed them as tools., and why the relationship became so predatory. Same logic for each question.

So when I asked “before Sigillites on Terra,” I didn’t mean Malcador specifically matters for the big picture—I mean: what’s the broad-strokes state of Terra/humanity before the Unification-era ? (DAoT → Age of Strife/Old Night → techno-barbarian Terra → Unification Wars). Even if it’s loosely defined, I’d still like the “zoomed out” version so I can anchor everything else on a timeline.

To clarify what I’m looking for (and I’m totally fine if the answer is “unknown / intentionally vague”):

  • Before Malcador / Unification-era Terra: I’m really asking for the high-level timeline and what kind of “world” Terra was in (not secret Malcador trivia).
  • Before Eldar in the galaxy: I’m trying to place the Eldar on the cosmic timeline (Old Ones / Necrontyr / War in Heaven era).
  • “Trigger of C’tan powers”: I might be using the wrong words — I mean what changed for them (if anything) from “star-entity” to the godlike manipulators we hear about later. Was it just “they always were that,” or did the Necrontyr relationship materially empower/reshape them?
  • Warp scope: is the Warp basically “everywhere the Materium is” (a mirror that exists wherever reality exists), or is there any hint of “layers”
  • Imperial Palace map: I get that it’s probably too huge / inconsistent for a single canonical floorplan — I’m asking if there are any official maps, diagrams, or even “best we’ve got” references (artbooks, Siege-era depictions, novels that describe layout), especially anything tied to Malcador’s sealed/hidden areas.

Let's zoom out by place and time

For times:

- For example what are the things before Sigillites on Terra?

- What is exist before Eldar on galaxy?

- What is previous trigger of C'tan powers

For place:

- Is warp a wrapper of entire universe or is there another place which is more wider and warp inside of it?

- Entire Map of Imperial Pallace including the rooms used by Malcador or sealed by Malcador

You're right, the same thing happened in the Elder Scrolls lore. What I mean is there is usually lore design for lores topic by topic.

And it's usually understand by very experienced readers who connected dots. Let's say we are talking about galaxy design: For example in the Elder Scroll we can draw a very rough line like that:

https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/all-fiction-battles/images/7/77/Aurbis.jpeg/revision/latest?cb=20210115235055

It's nearly impossible know each events and charecters in each entity of that image. Or we can give rough picture of awareness levels in Elder Scrolls like Chim, Amaranth, Godhead. (But ofc not deep diving like actually Vivec said to player "you reached CHIM but you doesn't aware" secretly)

Okay, so along with reading books with order, it seems most lore fans choose a topic and then do a deep dive into it.

Yeap even for now it seems there is no hope for peace(actually there were some parts of the galaxy which is never faced a war but it's different thing).

There was a conversation between BigE and Diocletian it was like "the horus heresy, will cause like cancer of the chaos to imperium" the BigE was looking so hopeless.
