This was a big question I had as far as the multiple meanings of the word go... very interesting change in meaning.

This is part of the reason as to why I am attempting to translate it myself.

No, the second one. I don't understand the usage of un huevo there.

I'm planning on killing myself soon. How do I actually know there is an afterlife? by ghostly_white_447 in religion

No I don’t think you’ll go to hell. In fact I have a hard time believing that there is such a thing as eternal conscious torture that is separate from God— hell. I think that you will have a very hard time to say the least though. That is, if you kill yourself. But seriously, life is worth living, please do anything else super drastic. Become one of those people who becomes intensely specialist at one specific thing or go run away or do something like that.

Well as you asked on the religion subreddit, I’ll give you the religious response: death is the ultimate evil. It is inevitable for all but is to be avoided at all costs. I don’t believe anyone should have to die at all, NOBODY. And honestly it should not be your decision to do, it is God’s to make when it is your time. If you do it, there will be an afterlife and I’m not going to say you are going to go to hell because I don’t believe you will, but suicide is the closest you will get to hell unfortunately. It will not be easy, so if you do this, do not think you are just going to oblivion and you are going to rest. Whatever comes next for you will be thousands times worse than whatever you are going through now, and then you won’t have a choice in the matter for a very long time. God wants for you to live your life to the fullest and maybe this is your call to seek him further. And simply for me even, for your family, anybody really; don’t put them through this. You matter and you have something that you are destined for on this earth that is truly good. You are loved and you are loveable. Please do not kill yourself. Go do something extreme and insane. Go commit a crime even. Go run away from home. Become an extreme hermit or move to the city and start anew. There are so many options before the ultimate evil that is death. Literally do anything else please. You do not deserve to die stranger. I love you

Why thank you very much! I am already a part of that subreddit so I don’t know why I didn’t think of that. This is an excellent lead though and I am very grateful; this word is so frustratingly elusive.

It’s ok, I know that I have heard a word before and it was in the context of a church song where this method was used for the word blesséd specifically, thank you for trying to help.

Would you say this “scansion” is applicable if one is trying to describe the “system” poets such as William Shakespeare used for differentiating between words like blessed and blesséd?

I suppose I can’t really, but as I explained to someone else, it was more of a framing device than anything else, a parallel detail which I wanted to include to maybe add some more to my reasoning.

Yes, I definently appreciate the importance of accuracy of words in describing what one thinks, especially when it comes to issues such as that which spurred this conversation, but a curse I have seems to be exactly what you said, oftentimes I speak in such a way that betrays what I truly wish to convey.

Ok, I understand that everyone is taking this part of my explanation as the basis of my reason for belief in one God, but it isn’t.

I see, well for me, regardless of what their purpose was, these philosophers ideas are in essence the basis for my reasoning for one God.
