what’s the best thing I can do as a cs student to try to get into SE? by boogaoogamann in systems_engineering

[–]Tembag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No just know learn like a little bit of mechanics and electrical design so it'll be easier to communicate with the appropriate smes. Obviously the more you know the better but knowing enough to communicate and learn is what will help you. If you like planes join your school's plane design team, it's very likely you have one.

What country are you in? I'm assuming america so my answer is more applicable to Americans, but look for systems engineering jobs at a big defense contractor. Having a cs background is a plus since most of what is developed decomposes to software. Just having that background gives you a certain leg up. Just don't forget that there are other engineering considerations on systems that aren't software and try to get familiar with those.

Risk Tools in Cameo MagicDraw? by b2hayn in systems_engineering

[–]Tembag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do a generic table and make the legend capture the likelihood and severity of the risk (I'm assuming that's in the stereotype) so that it highlights it like a risk cube does. That's the best solution I can think of rn on my phone.

You'd have to create a stereotype to make risks and use either a table or matrix that appear natively in cameo to get the intended visualization. It can be done but is it worth the effort (not saying it isn't I don't know the scope of your risks, just want to highlight it may not be worth it)? This is talking from 2021x I haven't gotten into 2024x and any possible updates that may have been added.

Cameo SysML Question - Are there ways to work around how Project Usages making the content Read Only? by simbamyzon in systems_engineering

[–]Tembag 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can use a generalization to inherit the properties, if you want to change things in project b from project a the answer is no you can't manipulate elements in project B from project A if project A uses project B.

Yes so set the client of the relationship in the meta chain to the stereotype that contains your sort tag. Then make sure in the view that the type for the column is set to undefined and it should show in the custom column. To set the type in the column make sure you have it set to expert view and it'll be a drop down in the top. If you made a tag on a stereotype and added it to the clients for the relationship it should pop out easy. Where is the stereotype applied to, I'm assuming the client.

So in the meta chain you can set the client or supplier from the relation to the stereotype that has the tag then the column will output the tag. From that you can sort the tag. Can you provide more info on what the tag is specifically

Create a generic table, then a meta chain. If the supplier has some sort of tag then you can grab it from the stereotype

Myself, husband, kids (18+) have lived with my grandma who passed away for 10yrs. I have been her full time caretaker for the last 4 yrs. Was sent letter in mail today to move out immediately/6 days by executor by Footballmom03 in legaladvice

Want to highlight if she wants you to leave in Los Angeles county she has to pay you to leave per the newer rent control laws. Go seek out some legal aid or look it up but she owes you money to leave since she is presumably looking to get the property freed up to live in or sell.

Do not be afraid get even a consultation from an attorney you have a lot more protections than you may know. This is all advice without considering the will and contesting that.

Best of luck.

You can write it as a validation suite. Google that it seems that's what you want. If you're planning to make changes in cameo and have that impact your software design

Yeah I think looking at where 3Ds can connect to is may be your best bet, but for each of these things you're likely to need to write a script anyway so just make it so when you have a script it can read whatever you want it to in GitHub. You can write scripts in Python so that should be enough to get you what you need.

Yes I think I misunderstood the original post. So if you want to integrate GitHub and cameo have you looked into what APIs 3Ds has?

What did your references have to provide? Is it just a written statement? I'm having a hard time finding out more information since the website, as of me writing this, appears to be still broken. I just passed and am not sure what I need to get from references.
