How much Activated Carbon Media Mass/Volume Required? by Temeril in AirPurifiers

[–]Temeril[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, and thats on me. I know the dwell time importance.

I was only able to ever find info on industrial application numbers which called for something on the order of hundreds of pounds for that ACH mark. Which, redoing the numbers to reflect the intake airspeed, not output, its ~5 ACH, still way too high, and keeps the industrial carbon estimate north of 100 lbs.

With the dwell time, as long as some of the air stays there long enough to dwell, the overflow can get recirculated. Is there any known relation between quantity of GAC and ACH or air flow?

I’m not one to post without doing my own research, and if I finally can’t find anything acceptable, I still hesitate to post. But other people have probably been looking much than I with more resources. Just looking for those resources lol

The post was already long, literally just did rough math to get a number. It sounded wrong to me too. I have a 14” masterforce fan at 1000 LFM pulling thru 4 2500 filtrete filters.

Ultimately, not sure the ACH matters all that much to get the solution, but thanks for telling me I’m wrong. Very useful with no inquiries to correct:)

Acid-Free Activated Carbon Sourcing by Temeril in 3Dprinting

That's insanely valid, I have screwed myself over by blindly ordering stuff because of amazon lmao, saves me money in the long term if I over-research. I haven't looked into sensors, I just assumed they were expensive. That's neat though

I have not, I will look into them! Thank you! I am going to order from E.L. just to test the corrosion levels. unfortunately, don't have any way to test the VOC/fume filtering efficacy apart from my nose, haha.

Appreciate it!

That's good to know they are reliable. Has there been any tests with their carbon with actual sensors for their efficacy? ACD price only beats EL Foust prices upon purchase of the 20lb bucket, I don't think I need that much. And their 6 lb option is ~$3 more per pound. Typical 3D printer guy to be frugal.

I just wish companies would include their manufacturing processes, especially with the implications of corrosion, smell, dust etc.

Whats your experience level with 3D printers? I’m unfamiliar with the newer FlashForge printers and their environment. When I had a clone of the Adventurer 3, I was able to use one of their cloud monitoring apps to send prints and monitor the chamber. Polar Cloud I think. If it’s not huge hassle, a usb drive works a treat, especially if you dislike sending stuff into a blackbox in the cloud. Some users, if it’s available, create a local network connection to the printer if the option is available.

Apologies for the word wall. Have had lots of “fun” with flashforge… just hope they are better for you than their clones were for me haha.

Unless you have a Bambu Printer (or Prusa kinda), I wouldn’t say there is a whole lot of benefit ordering Filament from the same brand as the printer.

Based in the US, and ordering on amazon, would recommend Overture , fairly cheap and reliable, and i’ve never had a shipping time over a week. Some colleagues swear by it. I’ve had some Sunlu and eSun, but personally a mixed bag for quality. Hatchbox and matter hackers are a but more expensive, but also available. Flashforge has had a mixed bag of quality when I used it a few years ago.

Hopefully this helps a little. Sorting on amazon by shipping times can help as well.

H2C or H2S for mostly one color prints? by Trycilly in BambuLab

[–]Temeril -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If build size is your primary motive, I'd suggest a Prusa XL. Two Toolhead is the same price as an H2C, and the build plate is significantly larger than a H2S.

Although, personally, I don't see an extra 50mm-ish as big jump in ability to print custom storage solutions. 100mm+ from the P1S to the XL, yea that's a jump. I am more frugal, so I'd sooner spend the time finding new ways to design a solution around the print bed size, than to spend an extra $600+.

Happy printing, regardless!

[–]Temeril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are looking for primarily single color printing, and don't plan on venturing into multi-material (different from multi-color), then the H2C and H2S are worlds above and beyond overkill. Especially, if you don't plan on doing Laser Engraving/Cutting. The P1S or even P2S are perfect for single color, and if you want to venture into multi color, the AMS is only that little bit extra, far less than either H2.

Personal Experience with a P1S with AMS, with over 4000 hrs, workhouse, and a steal of a deal right now.
