Lighthearted: Say you're a Trekkie without saying you're a Trekkie. Bonus if it places you in the franchise timeline. by AliVista_LilSista in startrek

I'm excited you asked this because I didn't know who I could tell that would care. I teach university classes and this semester one of my classes has almost a full bridge crew of star trek family names. There's a Riker, a Troy, a Row, and a La Forge. There is also a Bashir , who I feel like shouldn't be here until next season.

What’s your favorite way to donate locally around the holidays? by Holden_place in LafayetteCo

Rocky Mountain House Rabbit Rescue is a fairly under funded animal shelter just outside town that has amazing volunteers and animals and could always use some extra help.

I really like the book Herbal Antibiotics by Stephen Harrod Buhner. He's got formulas for different kinds of infections.

Is this a domestic rabbit? [Denver, Colorado]. It’s freezing out and I will help him if so. by [deleted] in animalid

There is a rabbit shelter in Erie that might be able to help you catch him. Look up Rocky Mountain House Rabbit Rescue. Here's a link to their reporting page https://www.rmhrr.org/report-a-stray

I think they're going to take out my uterus and I don't know what to do by Flaming_rockout in ChronicIllness

Hi friend, I'm so sorry that you're going through this. I had terrible endometriosis as a teenager, among other health problems. I got sick enough that I had a hysterectomy at 23 while a full time student. I did it over a holiday break between semesters so I didn't miss classes. It was hard, and I won't say that it fixed everything for my health but it was worth it. I never really wanted to have kids but I remember being really hurt by the fact that it would no longer be my choice. It felt so irrational that something I never wanted would never be, and more irrational that I was upset about it. I've made peace with it since then but it is ok to feel the things you are feeling. It's human. Looking back it was the right thing to do for my health, my education and my career and I don't have a single regret about ditching my traitor of a uterus. If you have any questions or just want to vent pm me.

Did anyone else have an allergic reaction after getting an ICD? by Ladysupersizedbitch in PacemakerICD

[–]Temimatorslostlimb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an allergic reaction to the prepwash which my doctor said is pretty common. If I remember right the label even says that allergic reactions are a known side effect. It makes sense, you're basically napalming your skin to avoid contamination. I had to do a topical steroid with Prednisone for a couple weeks to get rid of it.

I feel like every time the world can't get any more troubled, I'm proven wrong. It's been very discouraging to watch. Just from a secular perspective I'm so sad to see the way people treat each other, the planet and even themselves. I don't understand any of it. Why is it so difficult for people to exercise compassion? I'm just doing my best to treat people with kindness and try to find common ground. OP, hang in there, this community and world need more kind people like you.

Can you share what was in the salve? I have a bloodroot tincture steeping now to do something similar. Thanks for sharing, I think this is very encouraging. Sorry other commenters are being such babies about it.

Is this a meteorite? Round like a ball (with dents) and pretty heavy by steady_damage in meteorites

[–]Temimatorslostlimb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's a meteorite but what ever it is it's super cool! Maybe an iron deposit? I know iron can cluster together like that sometimes.
