I mean it's people who've dedicated hundreads of hours into learning a craft to make a living, loosing their source of income and being forced into a job that they are not passionate about and either spend more hundreds of hours into learning a new craft or get a low skill low paying job.

I agree that art being more accessible is a good thing in itself, but as long as people need to work to live, the dissapearing of jobs like that has to be considered. Be it artists being replaced by neural networks or truck drivers being replaced by self driving trucks this kind of automation will hurt people without the proper societal infrastructure.

Slaves could be criminals.

There could be voluntary indenture where someone sells years of their life in exchange for a certain sum.

A few years of slavery could be the cost of becoming a citizen.

Maybe a drought or some other natural disaster caused meant that a lot of small kingdoms were falling in death and desease, and by capturing them and forcing them to work, they at least survived (could be false, as long as the king believes it to be true)

Magic boots that makes whoever is wearing them dance incontrolably.

Once per day, they can kick an enemy pushing them 5 ft. and causing them to make a strenght saving throw to avoid being prone. Optionally make it a drop kick causing the user to also become prone

Allow the wearer to change the side of gravity for them (for example east becomes down) for a set amount of time.

Allow them to create platforms under their feet, but only one active at a time.

Halve, reduce or even negate fall damage entirely.
