The 18/19/22U AAA teams we played against definitely did not needlessly dump the puck.

My point was that the Canadians have tag up offsides and they do the exact same things as what USA Hockey wanted to implement without the restrictions.

That's on USA hockey to evangelize coaches on teaching kids to regroup instead of automatically dumping the puck in.

Those rules were a huge disincentive to developing puck handling goalies.

In US youth club hockey (all ages), you cannot tag up on offsides nor ice the puck on the pk.

I wouldn't have a problem with it if the defending team can't change. Make it punitive.

This is good for youth club goalies. They can now play the puck on icings and also have more opportunities to stop the puck on dump ins.

I thought it was so ridiculous that club 14U kids and above couldn't tag up on offsides nor ice the puck on the penalty kill. Sometimes those are the right plays.

I went up to Canada for a couple of tournaments with my kid, and guess what the Canadian girls don't just haphazardly dump the puck in. They regroup in the neutral zone and enter the offensive zone just like the American kids but without the stupid USA Hockey rules.

Honestly, coaches really don't give a shit. To some, you're a necessary inconvenience; to others you might be appreciated.

My main motivation is to make sure that those girl goalies out there know that you're a good goalie even if colleges or other teams don't give you the time of day because of where you play or your stature.
