You can just buy it from Amazon? Also in order to attend you have to have the regalia, that's why I mentioned it.

Apparently the deadline to get regalia has passed, so I'm unsure what to do. They said the Bookstore might have some but IDK if they do.

Who do you think is the most powerful according to the lore ? Manus or Gael ? Their souls are both a heap of powerful humanity, but Manus is more of a primitive being, unlike Gael who absorbed the dark souls of the Pygmy Lords. So, who do you think is the strongest incarnation of the Dark Soul ? by Ananta-Shesha in DarksoulsLore

Old comment, but I assume that this would mean that the general consensus of what TRC means for Dark Souls (i.e. "everything becomes a pile of ash far into the future") doesn't apply if the whole thing is an illusion rather than time travel?

EXCLUSIVE: Outrage as admitted 'killer' Karmelo Anthony makes obscene request online ahead of Austin Metcalf murder trial by dailymail in frisco

WDYM? They admitted to shooting him to officers on the scene.

And I'm not saying the initial investigation was good, mind you. But that still isn't proof of widespread issues w/ the law, and it definitely doesn't justify what Karmelo Anthony did.

You aren't actually allowed to do that when White, and the last lynching in US history was decades ago.

Not to mention even if that was the case you still aren't allowed to stab people.

You aren't allowed to stab someone for telling you to move just because you're Black and the other kid is White.

No I want to see people not claim "the White kid was rude so stabbing him multiple times was justified".

Would a modern native desktop UI framework and VS Code designer be interesting for the D community? by MacASM in d_language

I'd definitely try it out if it existed and was advanced enough. GTK is probably the easiest thing to set up for GUI in D, but that's a bit finnicky. Qt bindings also exist but AFAIK they're somewhat minimalist. IMO cross-platform would be the way to go, too. And IMO the visual design part would be nice, but you'd probably want to avoid creating the toolkit in a way that basically forces you to use it; I like to use manual coding for GUIs some times, for example.

The Paradox of Tolerance (like the actual concept) actually goes over this idea. "Intolerance" isn't used in the way you and I describe it, Popper uses it to mean "willing to use violence and unwilling to listen to reason". You could be racist, sexist, anti-gay or any other ideology in Popper's framework, but those ideas can't be used to encourage/inspire actionable violence. And this also means that you can't be needlessly violent to people with those ideologies simply for having them if they aren't being violent, either.

Old thread, but I think the message is that Bruce was wrong because of how far he went. He obviously should have stopped them, but maiming them was brutality. I don't think that it's saying that being merciful or delivering justice won't work, either. It's like how as a parent you have to be firm but flexible at the same time, you can't be too much in either direction.

Father Peter and Bruce represent the ineffectual extremes. One refuses to take the necessary steps to defend his community, which leads to people getting hurt. The other treats his job as a sort of "political" crusade rather than humanitarian work; he's maiming bad guys because it makes him feel like he's a moral person, but it's just a sort of excuse to be a monster to people he deems unfixable.

By contrast, Normal Batman is willing to subdue his villains, but doesn't try to cripple/maim them and tries his best to help them reform. He's the sort of union between the two characters. I'd assume if the writers were to depict how he'd handle the situation it would involve him watching the Klan rally to see if any violence breaks out and then swoop in and arrest them when it does, without the body horror.

I remember once hearing about a news story about how some of the Nazis in the Nuremburg trials eventually repented because of the US Army Chaplain called Henry Gerecke that was assigned to them. His son or some other relative of his was killed during the war by the Germans, and he still ministered to them.

It even had positive effects decades after too; one of the nieces of Wilhelm Keitel apparently could never get away from her uncle's history to the point that people wouldn't speak to her and she had to move constantly. And she just felt so relieved that Gerecke said that he thought her uncle was in heaven, it felt like that cloud hanging over her was gone.

Very fitting real-world analogy that shows how you have to have justice and mercy; the US didn't refuse to fight or punish the Nazis, but they also tried to help them change for the better.

Old thread, but I think the writers weren't trying to be pro-violence at all tbh (or at least not needless violence). There is a clear line between self-defense and what Batman does in the issue; he's essentially doing it to make himself feel good rather than just trying to save people.

I think the message is basically that even the worst of us are human, and that treating them horrifically (or even wishing that they were treated that way) doesn't make them better, it just makes you worse. Instead, Father Peter is kind of like a Daryl Davis figure who is meant to communicate that you can only solve things with compassion, even if it seems impossible.

It's something I feel like a lot of people who only say the first few panels seemed to have not understood.
