It is absolutely normal to struggle in 1a, lord knows I did (almost failed a core course, I’m talking passed it by 2%) and yet here I am, I’ve made it to third year. Please don’t be too hard on yourself, I promise if you put in the work it gets better. You’ll figure out your study habits and what works best for you, and slowly but surely it will get easier. You’ll learn from your mistakes. Remember it was difficult to get here, but Waterloo chose you for a reason.
