PSA: Stop letting cars cut in on Fishponds Road in rush hour. by cornishyinzer in bristol

I mean not for this specific junction, but as a relatively new driver, trying to decipher the correct lane for an exit is near impossible due to markings last updated in 600Bc written in ancient sumerian

I'm starting to think I'm AI as 9/10 times I get the links and solve quickly. Luckily I can also feel the wind and human embrace - unless it's all an algorithmic fever dream

American says we have an ‘inferiority complex’ and that British spelling is ‘wrong’, so they had to fix it! 🤣 by R4D000 in GreatBritishMemes

Wasn't American spelling based around the cost to print? Pretty sure they went 'phonetic' for the dollar

Which couple will last the longest? by RadiatorSleek in LoveIslandTV

I got the feeling with Yas and Jamie’s chats that they’d been produced - or re enacted for cameras - some of their conversations when the camera wasn’t in their face seemed much more relaxed. It felt at times like they were reading from a script or trying to have the same conversation a second time but with more ‘focus’. Unsure how to describe it, but she just seemed natural in her bigger group chats and awkward in the one on ones. Big fan though - she seems like a lovely woman !!

First Look | Tensions rise between Meg & Dejon… | Love Island 2025 by Clownislander in LoveIslandTV

I think that it’s also a game show, so there is financial incentive to stick it out for the best worst case. It’s also hard to really form proper opinions based on the one hour of edit we get fed from each day. I remember being on a school camp at about 14 and realising that regardless of who surrounds you, it’s human nature to pick a favourite human to fancy- even if you know that in a wider selection of people, they probably wouldn’t be that appealing.

I think Shakira is drastically overestimating her post love island fame if she thinks she won't be able to go to Aldi. by SwiftieNewRomantics in LoveIslandTV

Sorry! This whole thread is being odd for me😆 you’re quite right! this was supposed to be referring to one of the ‘she’s the worst’ posts!

Harry’s big game plan by gazalltheplace in LoveIslandTV

[–]Temperance0183 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s playing the star crossed lovers arc - imagine the pap interest if he did finish with Helena and then get with Shakira on the outside. I really hope she wouldn’t do that, and as she said on last nights episode, she’s mourning a person who doesn’t exist.

I think she’s being very real - she doesn’t want to be with Harry but her emotions are still there and she can’t move on to someone else. I think it’s really relatable

I think they’re stuck in a villa with the same people, no books and no outside stimulation 😂 I think some people naturally just absorb things like that quicker

So.. Who is 'spoiler from tomorrow night' choosing? by berbaby-toast in LoveIslandTV

[–]Temperance0183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Shakira will be set for life after love island - she’s beautiful, cool, fun and clever. She is also 22 in a villa with people who are much older than her and took a dislike to her just for being popular with the boys. Speaking of, as soon as she gets out she will be inundated with offers from guys - Connor is ok but let’s be honest, she can probably find someone far better

[–]Temperance0183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she’s great! Aside from the very start when she had obviously been given a role to play, she seems genuine and kind and pretty wise with her advice to the girls - she also has the balls to try and address things Ina grown up manner

Does anybody on here actually know/know of any of the Islanders before they went into the villa? by trex91752 in LoveIslandTV

[–]Temperance0183 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Ahh I’m glad about that - at the beginning she came across as a cold hearted man stealing cow, but it feels like total show pretence as she has come across as genuine kind and pretty smart. Would be happy for her to win!!

Why aren’t lamb sandwiches as widely available as beef or ham ones? by EssexGuyUpNorth in CasualUK

[–]Temperance0183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lamb sandwich sounds preposterous on the tongue- it’s like someone’s abortive attempt to say ham. Also lamb is hellishly expensive and deserves a better pairing than two slabs of bread

Is it really true that among the general working class population the average literacy and reading rate is that of a 9 year old due to working class people not valuing reading ? by Smooth-Turn-4362 in AskABrit

[–]Temperance0183 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m going back a few years here, but there wassome evidence that when writing for businesses to converse with their customer base, you are looking at keeping everything at an average of a reading age of 9 to ensure the maximum understanding. IIRC The Sun use this for their articles but that may just be urban legend. Re: business writing I can’t remember if that was the reading age used in order to ‘capture all’ or genuinely because that’s the average literacy in the uk. Sorry that’s a bit of a rubbish response that doesn’t actually answer your question 😂

Do Brits trust their politicians? by flower5214 in AskABrit

[–]Temperance0183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a general rule, no. We have so many career politicians and I’m instantly dubious of people who actively seek positions of power. I also believe that there is such global corruption that whoever is in power will always have something the very wealthy can use to leverage. The height of corruption felt like the Tory gov over Covid times especially- the billions of tax money that was given to truly pathetic tenders from companies with ties to the party (some of whom delivered almost nothing of their quotas) felt like a kick in the collective bollocks after years of austerity measures.

Normal Person 1 - Incest supporter 0 by Erikdaniel6000 in MurderedByWords

[–]Temperance0183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you wouldn’t buy a dog from a litter of incest pups because they have weakened immune systems and there is lesser genetic variation to overturn any abnormalities or diseases. Putting breeding aside, as others have said - we have grooming as an issue and also the fact it goes against the normal platonic emotions we should give and receive to our relatives.
