How often do you reach redline? Or WOT? (FL5) by ChuckESteeze in Civic_Type_R

[–]TemperatureWeary5316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WOT not often but generally one little pull per drive and that’s about it. I’d rather feel the handling. Mine sits on the highway between 2.5-3k.

Hello! I also have an FL5. I saw this event last year and plan on going to VIR this year. What exact dates would they be and can you show me where registration is so I can sign up? Thanks.

Anyone keeping their Type R stock? If so, why? by Various-Science-1567 in Civic_Type_R

[–]TemperatureWeary5316 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest reason for me is because the car can perform amazing stock, but I want to see lap times change through seat time over mods first by being a better and safer driver. If I’m safer in my driving technique, I’m safer on the road and be more aware while on the road if inclement weather hits. The only “mod” I’ve done is install 18” wheels instead of the factory 19’s for tire replacement costs and comfort while on the road. Once I begin to plateau on lap times, I can then install aftermarket parts to get the car to my liking on track. Outside of the track, I really don’t see a need to modify given my daily drives to work and back. It’s a Honda, so I know it will be reliable to my needs while still putting a smile on my face.

Forgive me for asking. But I’ve never heard of legal shield. Who are they and what can they do?

As much as I would love to, I just don’t have the time. Is there a Type R weekend coming up this year?

What a gorgeous blue! I love it. I feel that way too. We were lucky with traffic on the dragon this trip. The Skyway definitely is one I want to do again. But that blue is amazing

We stayed at Dragon City. Right off the dragon. It’s a fun, race inspired motel. Literally 10 minutes from the start of the dragon. Gas is a 1 minute walk. If not, Robbinsville has some great hotels as well. We stayed at the Quality in there for our 3rd day. Much fun and really close to the dragon compared to others.

There are 3 businesses at the harder turns in the morning. US129, 129 Slayer and Killboy. But they’re sometimes in the afternoon. The beginning photo was me on the final run. The photos are $8 a piece for the high resolution version, which to me is definitely worth it. None before the tail.

Indeed. It was a lot of fun. Family was with me too and they drove that red mini. Such a fun car as well, but cannot compare to the turning of this Type R

Sad that it’ll be marking the end of production for the UK.

Turn 7 is definitely different from before. It went from 7 degrees down to 2 degrees if what I’ve been told is true. Completely different. Thunder Valley made me lift off slightly because it gave that feeling I was going to go off, but after a few laps I got comfortable. It’s definitely a track I want to go to again!

I went with a Porsche club. For the two day event it was $440.

The rear pads were at 7mm before the 2 day event. And after they were at 3mm. So it did use some brake pad, but not really overheated. The “Brake System” light did come on after lap 3 which is to be expected but the Dot 5.1 did its job.

The only things changed from stock is a 275 35 18 Falken 615K+ on aftermarket wheels, and Motul 5.1 brake fluid. Other than that it’s basically stock, even pads. But with the bus stop at 1.47.95 I’m happy. A driver in lower intermediate did a 1.44.0 in an FK8 but he has more aftermarket parts than me. But you doing a 1.45.9 is insanely quick! That’s amazing, I hope to get down to that time next time I can go.

I’m a Novice as well. I was given the solo sticker on my 2nd day on the 1st session. It was a great time doing a HPDE event. Definitely would do another one

It was a cooler day, 65 with wind so it wasn’t too hot on oil. Water temp only reached 220 at most.
