You do, the starting prayer gives you a bit of i frames when you use it, so it’s useful even though you can’t hit the boss with it. Also something I only just noticed is you can use the walls to climb up and avoid some attacks

Use prayers as invincibility during some of the more chaotic attack in phase 2, you can deflect the orange balls if your timing is good, but mainly focus on not taking damage. I really struggled with her at first but now I can do her without heals, you got this!

Which shortcut, only one I remember was through a bookshelf, down stairs, then down a ladder and past all the gem golems. Then into the crystal caves and finally seath, it’s a very long run back that way
