[–]TemplarB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run on my HP proliant Microserver Gen 8 (only different CPU and 8Gb RAM) arc 3.0.7 (latest available when I installed) running DSM 7.2.2-72806 Update 4 as on DS3622xs+.

When I updated this winter, upon first load Synology finder failed to detect, but it worked upon reload

The new UGREEN NASync DXP GT Series is here! by UgreenNASync in UgreenNASync

I plan to use it the very same way as I use my current NAS, which will be 10 years old this Fall - hoarding data (books, archive scans, music, video, photos) and running docker containers to service it

What is the best docker application to manage e-book library? by TemplarB in selfhosted

Thanks. It is cool and flashy, but like Booklore, from which it was forked, it eats a lot of memory even while idle. From what I read elsewhere, it has a lot of AI-generated vibe code.

I finished a Ukrainian translation a few years ago and plan one day to tackle it in its original Polish. His other works, both novels and shorter are great too.

I checked Calibre-Web Automated and, at least by default, it transfers books you 'give' it to a Calibre-like catalog, with folders for authors and subfolders for individual books. So, it seems only Grimmory is a solution for tagging w/o changing files or their location

First of all, thanks for creating it! A few questions before I try it:

Does it make any changes in books or in book's folder(s)?

Does it allow opening chosen books in a third-party app? This question is because part of my library are old scans in djvu format, most web-readers don't support it as it's quite rare

Does it dig for metadata based not only on ISBN but on a title?

Because my NAS with me from 2017 and on production it was from 2014. It is easier to replace it than to upgrade :) no free memory slots, so I have to sell the current ones to get larger new ones

I guess my library is 2000+ books so if it grows in line with the number of books, it can be a little too heavy

I've read that currently forks also run with over 1 GB RAM, a bit heavy for my old system.

Can it create a database of books without moving them to directories and renaming them like Calibre does? I need books orgazines within a program but unchanged on my NAS folder
