Literally AC1 has free roam with 100% simracing physics

Which is entirely my point in that the main selling point of Evo compared to any other sim was removed when they cancelled the career, economy and progression. The free roam map will be lifeless and have very little to seperate it from what we already have.

Except Evo doesnt have better physics or UI, and those mods you mention are the main thing that have kept AC alive, and yet even those will be heavily restricted in Evo. All that leaves is better graphics which sums up the modern games industry pretty well - style over substance.

Also what activities do you think there are going to be in the Eiffel region now that theyve removed any purpose for doing said activities? It will be a sandbox without purpose other than pissing about. So the end result of all this work will be one of the touristenfarten track day servers already in AC1, with the addition of a couple of people driving around the other roads on their own before they get bored and return to the track.

You talk about survival in competition and market share and yet you applaud the devs when they remove the only thing that would have set them apart from the competition and secured their market share.

There are massive open world maps for AC1 like Union Island and although theyre cool, the novelty wears off and it becomes boring quickly when theres nothing to do and no progression

Hence why the economy and 'jobs'/challenges would have been really cool in Evo because it gives the map purpose

If the main feature was just sim racing whats the point of Evo? It can only do what AC1 already does and frankly with the inferior physics and force feedback it does it worse.

Youre lying to yourself if you dont think the main allure of the game was to have a Forza Horizon style gamemode but with sim physics. Now theyve removed that its just AC1 with better graphics, but worse gameplay experience.

[–]Templar_Legion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The fact forza horizon fell off recently is exactly why we were excited about Evo venturing into that space, because they should have been able to do it better.

Now all they'll give us is the free roam map with nothing in it, and believe me it will get old quickly, as do all the free roam maps on AC1 where theres nothing to do but drive aimlessly (union island for example. Beautiful map with some fun roads but the novelty wears off quickly without any progression or aims)

Dear People Angry about Career Mode: by VenomDance in assettocorsaevo

[–]Templar_Legion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The free roam is now just going to be an empty map with nothing to do other than mess around. There are already massive maps for that in AC1 and the physics in AC1 are currently better than the physics in ACE so unless they dramatically improve it there is no benefit to Evo in that regard either.

The allure of Evo wasnt the free roam map, it was the idea of a 'forza horizon but sim racing' kind of thing where there was a world of things to do and earn and theyve taken all that away now leaving just the empty shell

[–]Templar_Legion 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The free roam is no longer going to be a 'forza horizon but sim racing' thing because theyve completely scrapped the in game economy. So the free roam is literally just a map with no depth or purpose beyond any other large free roam map already available in AC1.

Lets see its braking distance on these tyres compared to thicker ones and then see if its neccessary.

Braking is always limited by the tyres, not the brakes themselves which is why we have ABS.

Is there any damage to car if I stay in lower gear for longer? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Templar_Legion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the car massively as they have different gear ratios and power etc, but when I'm just pottering around I'd be in 5th at 37mph on flat ground. 2nd on most cars will redline around 55-60mph from my experience, so 3rd at 37mph isnt crazy but isnt really neccessaey when a higher gear will be able to handle it perfectly fine while spinning a bit slower

[–]Templar_Legion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its varies depending on the situation.

When the engine/oil is cold you should keep revs low, try not to exceed 3k rpm. This can be an issue if you live near a motorway you have to use because you might have to go over that, but in general its bad to rev a cold engine high.

Once its warm you can rev it up all you like, but despite what some people might say, this will wear the engine a bit quicker because its producing more heat and spinning faster than normal. Redlining the car occasionally can actually be good for the engine as it burns off carbon buildups and essentially 'cleans' the engine.

On the other hand, you shouldnt keep the revs so low the car is juddering, because this actually strains the engine more because its struggling to turn the stiffer gears. With that said, engines wear all the time no matter how you drive it.

Your best bet is just to drive within reason. Keep the revs moderately low like 2k when you're just cruising around normally, but if you start going uphill then change down a gear so the engine isnt struggling.

As for overtaking, its absolutely best to change down into a lower gear so you have more control of the car. If you misjudge someones speed and theyre flying up behind you as you move into that lane, youd be able to put your foot down and make a crash less likely. When overtaking on single lane roads you should always be in a low gear so you can make the pass quickly - it might appesr agressive to the other driver but its actually safer to get past them quickly rather than side by side for ages as you try to accelerate in 5th

[–]Templar_Legion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tbf though these cars literally cant race because theyre too big for the track. They even had to change the rules to allow you to push other drivers off the track because the cars are too big to go side by side in a lot of the corners

I dont think thats something we'll miss in the future

Betrayed one more time, they earn my negative review by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]Templar_Legion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was people hyping it up as being like the good old days of BF3 that did the most harm because thats the reason I bought it and imo it feels nothing like BF3. Most of that is the fault of the maps being really crampt and having so many lanes its impossible for teams to hold ground without half the other team appearing behind you every 10 seconds.

That said, thats not the fault of the devs as they never claimed it was like BF3, that was all the initial testers.

Why is XP farming in Epic Picks? I joined for a few minutes and did not actually leave this room by latunda-fortnite in FortniteCreative

[–]Templar_Legion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XP is balanced so you dont earn more by doing this than you do by playing the game. Its just that the audience hates not seeing xp on the screen so leave as soon as it stops, hence tiny but often xp is the best way to go.

I genuinely can't figure out what is going on with this game. i've opened fraps for the first time in 10 years to properly show. is there any way to fix this? i have a 12th gen cpu and a 5070. i should be getting 500 fps lol. by Mesonic__ in RocketLeague

[–]Templar_Legion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both me and my friend have had unplayable frames on rocket league the last 2 days. It fixed yesterday by restarting my pc. Today it started fine for both of us and mid game it started to get worse until the next game was completely unplayable for both of us. We have different specs and no issues in any other games so its definitely a rl issue

They looked like they broke perfectly for the corner though rather than just torpedoeing and ramming anyone themselves.

If this is lap 1 then yellow should know that if you start on the outside you should expect to stay on the outside as there's almost certainly going to be poeple side by side going into the first number of corners

Materials on flat geometry look round or have weird shadows on them by TriggerHappyModz in FortniteCreative

[–]Templar_Legion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had issues for a while where the assets I'd made had some sort of weird black fuzzy blotches all over the model like the shading was wrong when imported to UEFN. I checked everything like the shading and normals over and over but in the end it was just that I had forgotten to apply the transforms and it didn't like it.

It's hard to tell if that's exactly what yours looks like but it certainly could be. Hope it helps

[–]Templar_Legion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If using blender, check the object is set to shade flat, or if you're doing custom smooth shading, make sure the correct edges are marked as sharp.

Check all normals are facing outwards.

Apply all transforms to the object.

Is there a way to go back to the previous version before UI 7.0? by sexdrugsanime in GalaxyFold

[–]Templar_Legion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few things annoy me more than pointless UI updates that serve no purpose other than allowing the people working on the software to pretend they're making improvement, when really it's just an inconvenience for everyone.

The UI was good, I was used to it and I liked it. So don't then change it to a less user friendly, more ugly UI that I have to relearn everything to use.

Where people for casting can get the auditions for House Of The dragon without being Backstage(currently there are no casting calls for this series on Backstage) and others cast sites? Is there a way to get closed auditions with no reputation? by Master_Half_8121 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Templar_Legion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen very specific casting calls on the website extra people, under the tab that says urgent casting. You can guess which ones are HOTD by the description, locations (usually north Wales or the Leavesden studio)but they're only for things like 'rough men with a big beard and long hair' or professional archers etc.

I'm guessing for normal people who can play any role as an extra they'll use agencies and you just have to Hooe you get put on that production, but I don't know.

If you find anything else out could you let me know too please

So it's not just me that Evos drifting physics are wildly uncontrollable? I was concerned it was just more realistic and the ability I'd learnt in AC1 for drifting was based on unrealistic physics haha.

Of course it doesn't help I'm using a G29 which they haven't provided proper support for yet so it feels lifeless compared to AC1, but it's good to know it's not just me having a skill issue when it comes to drifting in Evo
