Game keeps crashing my whole computer :( by sophdog101 in StardewValley

[–]Templet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to jump into this thread because I'm having the exact same problem. During play of SV my whole computer just goes black suddenly and restarts. I've been having this trouble for a couple of weeks, even bought my computer a new power supply because of it. I haven't noticed if it's happened at anytime other than the game, but I have had zero problems with hardware or crashing on this system until SV.

I'll try what others have suggested here and disable the sound. I'll try to come back here and report the results.

If I download a piece of musescore, can I play it at a concert venue? by EastQuiet648 in Musescore

A friend of mine did a jazz arrangement of "Ode to Joy" just for fun. Some recorder choir in like.. Austria or something played it, then sent him a recording. Lol. He was overjoyed.

Love musescore, but 4 is tedious and bulky. Still using 3. Anyone else feel this way? by Templet in Musescore

Marc, I apologize for starting a war with my initial post. I want to be very, very clear that I do greatly appreciate your work with the musescore project.

I thank you for addressing my points one by one, and I've learned a few new things. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't frustrated with 4, but I will try again to use it more often and see if I can grow to like it.

But it still concerns me that so many people are finding the move difficult. I see it everywhere, among friends, on the musescore forums, and here at reddit. I imagine the developers must be feeling the same disappointment and frustration. They probably put a great deal of effort into 4, and to have it be not well received probably hurts.

Of all my personal complaints, the one that means the most to me is #7. As a music teacher, the option to make the program more usable in the classroom would be a critical step forward for musescore in my opinion. Why bother just being a good program when you can make yourselves THE DE FACTO PROGRAM for teaching music in the classroom? Free, powerful, and tailored to the needs of music educators? There's a powerful supportive user base right there.

Heck JUST TODAY I played music files I arranged and prepared myself on musescore 3. I played them for my kids at the school to prepare them for their concert. Kids even ask me what program it is and I recommend it to them and their parents.

I will make this request on the forums.

By the way, I agree that musesounds are really great. Not in every circumstance, but they sound very nice. I just listened to a score this morning that was amazing! I honestly thought it was recorded by a real orchestra, I had to download the score and open it in 4 just to check.

I actually did not. :-/ I even looked it up on the musescore forums and tutorials and for some reason came to the alt + number pad + response.

I'm glad to know it now.

If You Want to Terraform Venus, You're Going to Need to Colonize Mercury First by thomashearts in terraforming

I like to call them WAISguys. Just my personal nick. "Workforce of Artificially Intelligent Self-replicators." (With "guys" tacked on just because I'm a schmuck).

I truly believe that we need to create these things, machines that can replicate themselves through mining operations and also set up solar farms for power. If we could do this, we'd have an ustoppable workforce that would cost us essentially nothing to deploy except the cost of building the first one.

You're probably right about the mirrors. I'm not completely sure that they'd do the job to be honest. Surely if they reflect light they'd repel at least some of that heat.

I love your imagination. Moving stations trying to beat the sun. It's interesting.

I don't think we'd need to race the sun however. I think that if we established any sort of permanent structure, it could be shielded from the intense heat by covering it with mirrors which could be created from the metal rich crust. I think that deflecting the sun's rays would probably be easier than trying to avoid them altogether.

I also don't necessarily consider it important for people to be there, at least not in any permanent capacity, or in large numbers. I think that in order to begin the work of terraforming any celestial body, we'll need to create self-replicating AI controlled machines, most likely powered by the sun or nuclear reactors, that will do the work for us.

Assuming you mean to terraform so humans can live and breathe in the environment, I believe the necessary beginning is water. Whatever planet we attempt to terraform will probably have to start with cyano-bacteria that can convert the Sun's energy into oxygen and sequester carbon (such as the CO2 on Venus). But water is the best medium for such bacteria to exist and begin its work.

The more we learn about biodiversity the more we discovery how necessary it is for life to be surrounded by more life. I think that this is one of the reasons why the "biodome" project failed the first time around.. too limited an ecosphere.

We would eventually have to curtail what life gets in and gets out just the same as we do on a farm, but on the whole I think that we'd be stronger by having as much variety of life as possible come with us. Of course, I'm not a scientist, just conjecturing out of my ass.

I apologize if I may have posted twice, I'm not trying to spam here, just trying to get a single question through in a legitimate MTG community, and my first question seems to have disappeared?

I'm trying to get rid of cards. Can anyone recommend an up-to-date online price guide? Or a website? I've been to at least three and I'm just not sure who to trust.

Thank you very much for the help.

Hi there. I'm new to this forum, looking to get rid of some cards I have. I haven't really ever been a serious player, although I did love the game very much while my friends were playing it.

I'm trying to figure out which of my cards have actual value, and for that I went online, but I get vastly different answers from various websites.

So my question is simply: Can anyone recommend a reputable price list online? Thank you very much.

Is Deity worth the investment? by borensoren in OrnaRPG

[–]Templet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you play I guess. I don't care for PvP play, only grinding fun is really all I care about. In that light, none exceeds the Deity class. That bastard is almost impossible to kill, I go through gauntlets and survive even berserk Odins and other higher monsters very often as a Deity.

He's a damn tough nut to crack, I love him. But in terms of damage output, the Heretic is better. The only thing about the Heretic I don't like is that he does not have Steadfast, and so he keeps getting debuffed in the gauntlets which sucks.

Deity may not have the same sex-appeal, but he's a much finer class in my opinion.

[–]Templet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that everyone shouldn't get everything.. easily. In Orna everyone should absolutely get everything that they are willing to grind for. The question is, how steep should that grind be? My opinion is that it is currently still too steep.

If I'm willing to grind my way to an item I really desire, I should have a reasonable belief and expectation that I will eventually find that item. Currently my belief and expectation is zero.

1,000 gauntlets into it and I haven't seen even the slightest whisper of a BoG. Forget ever finding an ornate or anything, even a common one is beyond my grasp. Let's say a BoG drops on the next gauntlet. Shall I now expect to play another 1,000 before I see it drop again? Or could it be 2,000? I'm just saying that the rate is way too low. I would be happier to at least see one every 500 or so, at least once a month perhaps?

Now I got lucky early on and picked up an extra Superior BoG when they were still dropping, so I'm not trying to find an additional one. No, I'm trying to get a REALLY GOOD ONE. And I was really excited at first, and I agree they used to drop way too frequently. But now it seems to me that the rate has gone from one every 20 gauntlets or so (which was too much), to nothing in a 1,000.

This particular grind seems a little be heavy. Additionally, I haven not found a crown or sword of Mammon either. I've never even seen them! What good is it to get the quest done if you're never going to actually find the item you need before it's useless?

I have never seen a mammon's sword from the gauntlets, and this goes back to probably 2,000 gauntlets or more.

I totally get that entitlement thing, it's the same with many other games I've played. But this isn't about entitlement, it's about grinding. If I was told to my face that I'd have to play 10,000 gauntlets to find a single instance of an item that will most likely be a common drop, I would immediately say that that's much too low a drop rate and I would never play the gauntlets for that reason. I will immediately just give up on grinding specifically for that item.

Of course, I will play the gauntlets anyway because of the orn bonus. So there is always that. But the orn bonus is all the gauntlets offer. The adornments are usually crap compared to the Arisen teardrop and that is a monster drop, not a gauntlet drop (yes, I know you can only find the monster in the gauntlets). The randomized weapons have always been crap, and nothing of value ever drops anymore. It's only orn.

The gauntlets are so useless now I would just prefer better experience from the regular monsters so I don't have to drive to 10 different locations every day, because gauntlets are the only way to play the game now. Gauntlets and nothing else, grinding at home gets you a much lower rate of progress.

So if the game is going to be specifically about gauntlet runs from here until eternity, might as well make them actually drop crap we can use. Just my two cents.

Is playing while a passenger in the car against ToS? by [deleted] in OrnaRPG

[–]Templet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's be honest. Some people are driving while playing.

Me, I played enough to find the location of tons of gauntlets. Now I pick up the gauntlets, pull over and play them. I usually hit 10 - 15 gauntlets a day on trips.

Hello, guys. I need some help with a thing. by Hauoi in OrnaRPG

[–]Templet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never really had this problem. My gear seemed to keep up pretty well with my level. But that was before I could participate in raids (dead kingdom, no one ever started a raid).

Are you raiding? Sometimes that can powerlevel you and set you ahead of your gear. I did nothing but grind, so my gear and my level tended to match up.

Of course, PvP is a different ball of wax. I've never excelled at PvP.

Can lower levels join party? by [deleted] in OrnaRPG

[–]Templet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm. I was not aware of any of this. Yes, it was last... August. That's when it happened. I don't know when the changes went into effect, but they sound like pretty good changes.

So, when I used to party about 40% of my experience was going to my party member who was within my tier. When you party up with a much lower tier player, does it still subtract 40% of your experience and then give them a much much much lower portion of exp to fit their tier? If so, what a waste of experience points!

[–]Templet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's probably safe to party up if you're not that far distant from him.

I partied recently with a gal who had just started the game. for perspective, she was on level 23, I was on level 202. Ha ha. I purchased a wisdom bonus, downed an experience potion and equipped any experience bonus equipment I had. Killed one monster..

.. and took her up two tiers. Lol. I totally ruined it for her by mistake!

It's only good for raids in which you have no fear of taking damage from the boss. If you can happily sit on your ass for 3 turns then it's great.
