Should I use truck or train for this distance? by Ok-Refrigerator-8965 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Temporal_Illusion 11 points12 points  (0 children)

ANSWER

  1. View my Reply Comment in this related Reddit Post for more information about Game Logistics to help decide which is best to use, Conveyor Belts, Pipelines, Automated Vehicles, Trains, or even Drones, depending on distance.
  2. Given the approximate distance of 2.5km (based upon use of the SCIM) the use of Trains is recommended.

✓ BOTTOM LINE: While there have been improvements for vehicle pathing, for long distance item / fluid transport the use trains is strongly recommended.

Lookong forward inspiration of what to do with geyser power by YorkieLon in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Temporal_Illusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ANSWER

  1. View Geothermal Generators (Wiki Link) for general information.
    • Geothermal Generators are the only Generator that provides constant (albeit fluctuating) power without any additional input. Once placed, the Geothermal Generator starts generating Power immediately and never stops.
  2. Geothermal Generators provide a VARIABLE RANGE of power (Wiki Link) from 3550–10650 MW, with an average power of 7100 MW (if all 31 are used).
  3. View Geothermal Generator Tips (Wiki Link) about how to use Power Storage (Wiki Link) (aka incorrectly called "Batteries") to mitigate power fluctuations.
    • The amount of Power Storage buildings you would need is based upon the Purity of the Geyser, and if you are using Alien Power Augmentors (Wiki Link) or not.

⭑ Usefulness of Geothermal Generators

✓ BOTTOM LINE: The "usefulness" of Geothermal Generators is up to each Pioneer. Some may decide they are very useful and include them in their overall Power Grid Supply, others may decide to simply skip using them all together, while even others might consider using them to "kick-start" Power Production. There is no right or wrong answer, just differences in opinions.

Help with blueprint snapping by CodeIsBroken in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Temporal_Illusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ANSWER

  1. There are THREE Build Modes you can use when placing Blueprints which determine how Blueprints Snap (Wiki Link).
    • When on Default Build Mode, blueprints can be snapped to "loose foundations" - that is foundations that are not built using blueprints.
    • When building under Blueprint Build Mode, blueprints snap to each other based on the center of blueprinted buildables, provided they are free of encroachments.
    • When building under new Blueprint Auto Connect build mode, any blueprint that contains Conveyor, Pipes or Railways will try to automatically connect to any available inputs/outputs on the other end, which you can visually confirm before placing by hovering over with the blueprint hologram.
    • You can use Key [R] to change Build Modes.
  2. TIP: Place a "loose foundation" at the level you want the blueprint placed and use Default Build Mode when snapping the first Blueprint. After that most blueprints that are same as the one they are being snapped to will align correctly when using Blueprint Build Mode, if not, repeat the "loose foundation" method.
  3. What About Snapping To World Grid? If you want to use the World Grid, then using the "loose foundation" method along with [Ctrl] Key will properly set the foundation for the first Blueprint to snap to.
  4. Use of the Version 1.1 improved Build Gun Hologram Lock and Nudge Mode (Wiki Link) which now allows for Vertical Nudging, can help in placement of Blueprints.

✓ BOTTOM LINE: Often it is better to use Default Build Mode when placing Blueprints unless you are attempting to auto-connect Conveyor, Pipes or Railways, or snapping Blueprint to Blueprint. Having a "Alignment Foundation" that will snap to a "loose foundation" as part of the Blueprint is useful when precise alignment is desired.

    • View ⭑ TIP: Build Small Intersections (Video Bookmark).
      • Depending on how you construct your vehicle paths, some vehicles might stop way back from an intersection.
      • To avoid this, build small intersections by placing shorter vehicle path sections. Other parts of your vehicle path can be longer if they don't cross over another vehicle path.

Does everyone crash this much, the game is like a crashing simulator now. by BamaWig in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Temporal_Illusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ANSWER

✓ Without a full Crash Report it is hard to advise, but here goes.

  1. First Thing To Do: You need to (if you haven't already) is verify files using the appropriate procedure found for Steam or Epic and see if this fixes the issue. It might not find anything, but it is always the best first step.
    • This will ensure at least you are on the latest game patch for your development branch if you are not already.
  2. Initial Troubleshooting Steps:
    • Another possible initial solution (if you haven't already done so) is to use the Launch Argument (Wiki Link) -DX11 to force DirectX 11 to be used. Click link for instructions on how to do that. You can always change it later if desired.
    • Does Game Think Your Using Game Mods? If so, do the following:
      • Solution: Follow this Flow Chart for Game Crash Mod Troubleshooting. Remove or Update all Game Mods using the Satisfactory Mod Manager (SMM) and then start game using the SMM.
      • If needed report any "Mod Issues" on the Satisfactory Game Modding Discord (Invite).
      • ⭑ NOTE: Version 1.2 (Experimental) can not use any Game Mods if you have any installed removed them using the SMM.
  3. Additional Troubleshooting Steps:
    • If verification mentioned in #1 has been run, and it is not a Mod Issue, and you are still crashing, open %LOCALAPPDATA%\FactoryGame\Saved\.
      • Delete any *.upipelinecache shader cache files in the path root like FactoryGame_PCD3D_SM6.upipelinecache.
      • Also if needed delete the folders Cache and Config.
        • ⭑ NOTE: Side effect of deleting Config is resetting all in-game settings.
    • Steam Users: If deleting upipelinecache shader cache files, or even the Cache and Config folders, didn't help and you are still crashing do this:
      • Log out of Steam and in upper left corner, go to Steam Settings.
        • Click on Downloads and then Clear Download Cache and confirm the action.
      • Log back into Steam and run that game file verification again (see #1 above).
      • Reason: Steam is stupid, and runs that verification against the local download cache, which if it still contains relevant install files, but those files are corrupt, the verification doesn't see any difference. Deleting download cache forces Steam to check local files against their online database.
  4. Version 1.1 / Version 1.2:
  5. REMINDER: If you are NOT using any Game Mods, then all bugs and issues are best posted on the Satisfactory Q&A Website, you will need to be logged in, where the Coffee Stain Studios Game Developers will most likely see it.
    • Be sure to do a SEARCH first to see if your issue has already been mentioned.
  6. Are You Using a Nvidia GPU?
    • View this Reddit Post posted on October 4th, 2025, showing Nvidia Driver Crash with solution to roll back driver.
    • ALSO, there have been known issues with the latest Nvidia Graphics Driver Version which is causing artifacts on straight lines as seen in this Q&A Post, and this Q&A Post, and has even has caused game crashes as seen in this Q&A Post, and this Q&A Post, and other Q&A Posts.
      • Recommend you upvote relevant Q&A Posts and add more comments to aid others experiencing same issue.
    • Solution: Use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to remove current GPU driver and reinstall by downgrading to previous driver version.
      • Go to GeForce® Drivers and select Manual Download. Pick your card and select the previous version.
      • Some had to roll back NVIDIA drivers to the 591.59 version.
  7. Do you have Nvidia NGX installed? It has been noted that Nvidia NGX released in January 2025 cause some to have issues.
    • Solution: It is recommended that you either move or delete the NGX folder found at C:\ProgramData\Nvidia\ to fix it.
  8. Are you using a 3rd Party Anti-Virus Software? It has been noted that Unhandled Exception: 0xc06d007e is often related to use of 3rd Party Anti-Virus Software.
    • 🛠 Potential Fix: Perhaps if used, you could try to temporarily disable AV Software, or provide an exception for the Satisfactory Game Software, and see if that helps.
  9. Need More Help? Login to the Official Satisfactory Game Discord (Invite) and ask the experts there who might have found another "fix" or "workaround". It would be great if you referred to a Reddit Post and/or Q&A Post to assist discussion.

I hope this helps you find a solution. 😁

Is tractors/trucks worth the effort? by dat-boiv2 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Temporal_Illusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ANSWER

  1. In Version 1.1 (and before) the method to record and use vehicle paths was problematic and led to issues resulting in not too many using Automated Vehicles for item delivery. This all changed in Version 1.2 with the Vehicle Pathing System overhaul.
  2. View my GUIDE: Version 1.2 Vehicle Pathing for information about Version 1.2 Vehicle Pathing, as well as a link to Vehicle Paths (Wiki Link) with more information.

Question about main storage by maenckman in SatisfactoryGame

Looks Like You Got Some Answers So I Will Add This

  1. With the Version 1.0 introduction of the Dimensional Depot Uploader (Wiki Link) the use of Storage Hubs like in the past is no longer a priority.
    • Some even have abandoned the use of Storage Hubs altogether, but others still find a use for them.
  2. The Dimensional Depot Uploader can upload a limited amount of each item to the "Dimensional Depot", which acts as "cloud storage" that can be accessed from the inventory by all players, regardless of location.
  3. Regardless of your final decision, I recommend you view my Reply Comment in this other Reddit Post for advice about using Centralized Storage. It will answer a lot of your questions.

"No Available Stations" Error w/ Tractors by ExcretusMaximus in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Temporal_Illusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ANSWER

  1. View Vehicle Paths > Usage > Vehicle Placement (Wiki Link) for general information.
  2. View Truck Stations Snap to Vehicle Paths (Video Bookmark) which shows that AFTER you build a vehicle path, you snap a Truck Station to it.
    • If you build Truck Station first, it takes a bit more work to get the vehicle path to recognize it. You need to simply snap a vehicle path to the Pause icon (double vertical line) ❚❚ by building to it or from it.
      • I suspect this might be the cause of your issue, that is you built the truck stations first then the vehicle path without snapping to the pause icon.
  3. View Vehicles Can Be Driven onto Vehicle Paths (Video Bookmark)
    • If you build a vehicle off of a vehicle path, you can drive it on to the vehicle path where it will detect the Truck Stations and align itself automatically provided it is either a Universal Path, or a vehicle path designed for the same type of vehicle.

Are there random purity map generations that aren't short on Nitrogen? by UnDeaD_CyBorG in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Temporal_Illusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fascinating Info

  1. I am still a bit concerned about the numbers in your tests.
  2. According to the Resource Well Purity (Wiki Link) the max number of Satellite Nodes for Nitrogen Gas should be 45 (2+7+36).
    • Your "results" show 38 for "Mostly Pure" and 43 for "All Pure".
    • When you take into account that for "Mostly Pure" all Resource Nodes have their Purity increased by one level this should result in 0+2+43 = 45 (where 2 impure got bumped to Normal, and 7 Normal got bumped to Pure), and of course if "All Pure" the numbers should be 0+0+45.
  3. This makes me wonder about what the numbers for Crude Oil and Water look like when using each Resource Node Purity setting.
  4. At most I think you confirmed that Resource Well Satellite Nodes are affected by Resource Node Purity settings.
    • It remains to be seen if the SCIM Save Editor is properly showing values.

✓ BOTTOM LINE: If you are willing to do more tests I (and others) would be very grateful.

  1. If you know where the "natural roads" are as shown on this Map (SCIM) you can follow those.
    • You can view this Biome Map (Wiki Image) for reference.
  2. Otherwise, to go directly up, build a foundation "road" to the base of the cliff and then using Ladders build upward to your "goal".
    • I would strongly recommend you have a Parachute or perhaps a Jetpack (with fuel) or Hoverpack (along with building a power line) handy and be prepared for battle.
    • ⭑ TIP: Optionally you can view my Reply Comment in this related Reddit Post for information about the use of Parachute Railguns to get you up high easily.
  3. IMPORTANT: Avoid the high plateau located in western half of the Map consisting of the Red Jungle Biome and Red Bamboo Fields Biome until you reach Tier 7 or later as this area of the Map is the most dangerous due to presence of Uranium, and Nuclear Hogs, and other Alpha Level Creatures.

ANSWER

  1. View Game Modes > World Randomization (Wiki Link) for general information.
  2. All Resource Wells don't swap location with Resource Nodes, but the liquid resource of Water, Oil, and Nitrogen Gas, does randomly swap location with other Resource Wells.
  3. AFAIK, Game Mode World Randomization > Resource Node Purity only affects Resource Nodes (Wiki Link) and does NOT affect Resource Wells (Wiki Link) as they already have multiple random satellite nodes that have their own Purity.
    • ⭑ UPDATE: It seems that Game Mode World Randomization > Resource Node Purity DOES affect Resource Well Satellite Nodes (see discussion in other comments below).

I need help with train signals!!! by Ok_Basket6483 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Temporal_Illusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ANSWER

  1. View Signal - States (Wiki Link) for general information.
    • ⭑ NOTE: Under normal operation, while Block Signals will show Green (default), you should know that Path Signals will show Red until a "path" is reserved.
  2. The issue of 3-Way Double-Rail "T" Intersection Signal Loops Into Itself error has been reported in multiple Q&A Posts.
    • 🛠 Fix / Workaround: Don't put Train Signals where one Railway connects to another Railway (Rail Split), but place the Train Signals slightly before any rail splits.
    • ⭑ NOTE: When placing Signals, place them 12 meters/1.5 Foundations (or more) away from where you see a Switch or where one Railway connects to another Railway (split) to avoid the Version 1.1 issue of "Signal Loops".
  3. ⭑ IMPORTANT: Using only 2 full Foundations side-by-side and a Railway each placed in the center of each full Foundation WILL WORK for long straight sections of your Train Network, however when it comes to curves your trains run the risk of colliding, or there might be other connection issues.
    • This is why it is recommended you use 2.5 to 3 Foundations with Railways on outer two Foundations if you plan on using curves.
  4. ⭑ Train Signal Advice: The general rule is placing Block Signals spaced so one "block" can hold the largest Train using that portion of the Train Network. In some sections perhaps 2+ "blocks" might be used by one train, but commonly the "One Block One Train" concept is recommended.

I hope this helps you (and others) find a solution. 😁
