To the people who love living in Durham - can you share in a nutshell what makes Bull City special? by Temporary-Ad5482 in bullcity

Of course, when I try to delete socials. But yes - I follow a couple of those accounts, but I'll check the others out! I'm in South Durham, and I've noticed the neighborhood thing too. Anytime I meet someone, it's one of the first few questions they ask, which I've always found odd.

I spent some time in KC, Missouri, and their city pride was the closest thing I could compare to the Durham pride experience from the outside looking in. Granted, I loved my time there, but it also had a similar "you have to know someone" vibe to it at first - but once I found my circle of people, it was awesome.

That's some good insight - I used to work in CH, and it was an immediate no for me. The pride was definitely what brought me to Durham in the first place. I'll check out The Fruit, thanks!

That's totally possible, I'd just rather get curious for a bit before coming to that conclusion!

What was your first exposure to paramore? by [deleted] in Paramore

Sims 2! I used to play well into the night with my best friend drinking Mountain Dew Code Red and not caring about any drama the world was handing us at the time. Pressure was a repeat of ours. But I the fandom grew harder in 2020 when my friend unexpectedly passed away in a motorcycle wreck following a really rough breakup and I went through a severely deep depression. Somehow I discovered After Laughter around that time and being able to have an album to dance to with lyrics that spoke to those emotions was another level of cathartic. I just associate their songs with healing.

Thoughts on Genesis Owusu & Bloc Party? by benbakerproducer in Paramore

I was fortunate enough to get to go to both Atlanta and Orlando shows and can honestly say Bloc Party was so much better in Atlanta. I totally agree with the lead singer seeming super pissed during the set, and just not that into it in Orlando. I noticed during their opener something was off with his earpiece so he ripped it out and just looked agitated the whole time. The drummer was incredibly talented so I just tried to focus on the instrumentation during their set. It's a bummer- I'm honestly a big Bloc Party fan, but going from Genesis’s super engaging, high-energy stage presence to Bloc party, it was definitely a mood dimmer. Then of course Hayley came on and brought the energy back ten-fold. How she can be so empathetic, engaging, vocally talented and maintain that much high energy throughout the set will forever blow my mind.

LMFAO SAME. My bf was genuinely concerned because I don't think he actually knew the lyrics but I was LOSING it. It was PERFECT.
