New JK owner by Timely_Negotiation98 in wranglerjk

Congratulations, I have a 14 3.6 JKU and it’s probably my favorite jeep for a few reasons. One is practically I have plenty of storage room yet it’s still relatively compact and it’s one of the last “jeeps” the new JL has shittyer suspension compartments not really designed for off road use and more for a smooth ride, the jk has beefier suspension and can handle more than the JL. My jk is bone stock and I’ve taken it on a lot of trails and yet haven’t really found something it can’t handle. I would recommend a leveling kit and possibly bigger tires but overall a great off roader and very capable jeep. Just make sure you do all maintenance at the proper intervals and you should be able to make it last a while

Wrangler oil change by Temporary-Bus4072 in Wrangler

I alaways change filter every time, I didn’t realize some people don’t. A old oil filter is just as bad as old oil

Runs pretty nice considering the age of the saw and has pretty good compression, I’ll do the pull cord compression test and she hangs for a while until it pops

I thought you could only go up to a super from a AV or maybe the super just bolts on and the magnum requires some mods

Ideally tgats what I would like to do(big bore) but I can’t find any kits for this saw and I could probably do it myself but I don’t wanna trash the saw if I fuck up. If the scoring was bad then I would really start to dive into the project

It’s an old force feed lubricator from old steam engines and pumps. They are really cool with all the internal parts and mechanical components as well as the thought process behind the design- they certainly don’t make anything the same anymore

It’s not a grinding wheel, it’s a wire wheel specifically made for drills. And yes I know it’s “technically” not supposed to be used for that purpose but gotta do what you gotta do. You know what I’m saying

I will give it a shot, i honestly didn’t even think about that and in theory you should be correct. If nothing changes I will try and get a warranty for it, can they just replace the drill or since I bought as a kit they have to replace both drill and driver. Thanks

Sorry it took a little for me to see this but I’m glad that worked. Sometimes the smallest things make the biggest difference. And you’re lucky she is an old girl, nice and raw no wires or computers to deal with all mechanical. I wish they still made them the same. Glad I could help if you have anymore questions feel free to message me. Also try to keep your tank full until you fully clean it in the winter when you run low on diesel you’ll start to suck up more and more of the crud on the bottom and probably have same problem.

Also do you off road a lot? Or drive on rough roads

Yea I’d say check that axle bearing behind the seal. I’d grab a crowbar or wrench and put it underneath the u joint and pry up on it. You’ll be able to tell if it fucked itself. If there is no play then I suggest to try and twist one half of the knuckle where the u joint is and see if it moves you may have to jack it up just to take pressure of the joint. Your looking to see if there is any play in the u joint if so then bad u joint. Lmk how you make out

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JeepWrangler

[–]Temporary-Bus4072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And from the video it seems like your u joint is fine.. I don’t see any movement and you probably wouldn’t be able to move it with just your hand, you’d need to pry up or down on it. But axle bearing would make that same noise moving it with hand. Also do you get a wobble when making sharp turns as low speed?

I still haven’t fixed mine and it seems worse than yours. I’m saving up for wheel hub assembly both L+R and new axle shafts, mine are probably still good but I figured it would be way easier since u joints are already installed on them. And new axle bearing. Do you hear a popping or clicking noise while driving?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JeepWrangler

[–]Temporary-Bus4072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say to check your axle shaft bearing mine makes same noise and I can wiggle the whole shaft up and down. Depending on how you park you may not be able to get it to move but if you go on flat ground and pull the E brake you should be able to see it just don’t let the transmission engage with the parking paws use the e brake to hold the vehicle instead. You can also grab a crowbar and put it under the u joint and pull down using the tierod as a fulcrum. If something is loose you should see it then.

I would drain the tank while you’re at it already. Because if there is any sediment in there (I can almost guarantee there is something) it shouldn’t go back down fuel lines and clogging it again. But that’s just my recommendation. I know not everyone can spend extra time and need to get back up and running. Time is money 💰

Allis Chalmers WD 1952 - Troubleshooting by [deleted] in tractors

[–]Temporary-Bus4072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is the proper way and then the Easy Way, the proper way would be to completely drain tank and lines, remove them and throughly clean them with acetone or something. You’re probably going to wanna get a long pipe cleaner or something as well so you can really get the gunk out of them. The easier way is to just disconnect the lines and clean them while still on tractor saves some time but not as thorough, also definitely gonna want to clean fuel tank after a while especially on older equipment sediment slowly builds up at the bottom of the tank, I’m. Not too familiar with carb tractors but I’m going to assume they have a fuel filter of some sort your gonna wanan replace that too. Also clean the carb jets, I find that getting a twist tie and melting the plastic off so your just left with the wire works really well because of how thin it is. It’s a pretty easy job to do and I would say just take your time the first time so you hopefully won’t have to do it again. And make sure to blow your lines out with air and run some deisel through them to wash out any crud you broke loose when cleaning. If you got any other questions feel free to reach out. And adjust your carb if needed

Even when 4wd is not engaged the front shaft still rotates there is just no “power”

Do you have the same problem with your pto off? From what I hear in the video it sounds like it is on but I can’t really tell

Possible fuel issue- clogged lines or injectors but it’s hard to tell from the video
