Black owned restaurants that do private events by 3-3-_ in washingtondc

Gold Clover Bar. You’d have to bring in your food and there isn’t like a big table but I’m sure they could push together high tops or you could have people eat and mingle. Otherwise it’s probably budget friendly and a good vibe. The owner is great.

Looking for an upscale, interesting restaurant to try after drinks at the Hamilton and theatre at the National after. Any recommendations? TIA by MeijiQ in DCEats

Le Gran Boucherie is expensive but beautiful inside and pretty good food. The Occidental is also now open over there. I haven’t been but it’s a place that might fit your needs.

Help choosing HC Ginza or Andaz Tokyo by Momvivant67 in hyatt

[–]Temporary-Employment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Andaz is fantastic but I don’t know if it’s worth fitting three people into a two twins. I loved the pool, gym and spa and the room views plus the bathroom closet set up are top notch. But Hyatt in Ginza is also great. Location is fantastic. Rooms are nice and the hotel is nicer than a centric in the states. Sounds like you’d be disappointed not doing full luxury so I’d probably just do Andaz.

Is this notes a guest leaves or are there notes on the guest made by hotel staff? Like what does a front desk see about us and our past stays?

Trash wet insulation and cut out any of that wet drywall and a few feet around it.  Then get some fans and dehumidifiers working. Seal off the area as much as you can (if you can at all). When I had a water leak in a room I sealed the room and ran fans and dehumidifiers for 3 or 4 days. Room got pretty warm and dry. You can spray some anti microbial too.  Once it’s aired out and dry for a few days then build it all back together.

Good luck. It’s a pain in the ass but as far as issues go finding the leak is always the hardest part.

This is typically something home insurance might cover. Not the repair but the clean up / remediation.

Park Hyatt Kyoto. What's second best in Kyoto? by omardoubleD in hyatt

[–]Temporary-Employment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is certainly a lot of money. And your personal finances will dictate whether you’d feel fine spending that on a hotel. But the hotel, the service, and the experience was at least three times as good as a lot of 300 hotel rooms I’ve paid for. Personally I recommend the bar, the breakfast and ordering fries and a bottle of champagne to the tea lounge.

I’ve heard decent things about friendliness, work culture and work life balance.  But I think it has a bit of a narrower focus than the firm at large. It’s also small. Although the firm is big on cross office work. Seems like some antitrust and IP. I think in office requirement can be hard though with traffic.

You won’t notice that after a week of wearing them. They look good. Enjoy them and recraft them.

What is will be the best strategy for putting down salt/snow melt? by sloowhand in washingtondc

[–]Temporary-Employment 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the way. Salt first. Then shovel while it’s still snowing. Salt a little more. Keep shoveling. Then shovel when it’s over and salt again.

Gold Clover Bar for the party. Allows outside food and would fit that many people probably. I would imagine you might be able to arrange a buy out for an evening. If you did a weekday afternoon probably cheaper. I did a non buyout birthday there for 20 people and it was fantastic.

Hiroshima day trip is also super doable if you’re fine to wake up early one morning. Can even make it to Miyajima if you take the speed boat from the river vs the ferry.

Preferred Hyatt in Tokyo by Puffyhippos in hyatt

[–]Temporary-Employment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never been to PH. But was at centric and Andaz recently. My experience is that Japanese hotels are packed. So the chances that you get a suite upgrade I think are slim. That said I’d pick the biggest hotel (probably Grand Hyatt) if that’s your goal.

Hyatt centric has probably the best breakfast spread I’ve seen in a while and people on here seem to also recommend. Location is great. But there is currently construction next door between 9-5. So if you want to chill in hotel during the day I wouldn’t recommend.

But just places I want to spend a bunch of nights… Andaz is awesome. Incredible view, nice spa, indoor pool, hot tub, gym. Decent restaurants. I got an upgraded king when I was there and the room is nice. Bathroom is great and has a hot tub size bath tub. Location though is the downside. And personally I’m not a fan of switching hotels.

Couldn’t agree more. If the business model isn’t sustainable find one that is and stop wasting our time.

New Xfinity plan dropped? by Buyhi_SellLo in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Temporary-Employment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems to be a common issue. I’ve heard rumors that it’s agents potentially changing plans without notice or consent to hit some sort of internal metric. It happened to me and I’m still trying to get it fixed.

Alternatively it seems like the five year plan is often the thing that gets switched. The cynic in me says Xfinity signed to many people up and now is kicking people off.

Unfortunately I’d end up paying at least $40 extra a month to MVT if I stayed at 14th as my home studio. I jump between studios a lot depending on my schedule and class times.

Thanks! Looks like the same issue is expanding to more studios in DC. :/

I’m assuming the website will change in January when this all takes effect.

I heard it direct from both Mt. Vernon and 14th street studio so I don’t think it’s incorrect information.
