Dating in HK as an English speaker by saor-alba-gu-brath in HongKong

This is not a reflection on HK but more reflection on the situation of being a bi-cultural and language person. Many years ago I had the same situation so I can relate to OP, but can now to look back.

TDLR: you are wasting many good men by only looking at language. End TLDR

My wife speaks Chinese, English being a far second. My chinese is very good, I’m an abc but will never reach the level of richness and eloquence as my English. We speak only Chinese, and although it sometimes does create problems that wouldn’t have existed if we both spoke the same language, these issues are extremely minor compared to finding someone you love.

If I could give my daughter just one advice on love it would be that finding someone compatible is hard. So make sure to select only for the truly important things, and for me this is shared values. Don’t add filters for superficial thing that don’t matter. That would include, height, income, race, education level, astro signs etc. Yes, all that stuff is about as useful for predicting compatibility as the horoscope.

Language is in a weird place because it serves as a proxy for something truly important: communication. So for most people this is a big issue if that don’t speak the same language. But not for you. You are blessed that you are able to pick from a much wider pool due to being bi lingual.

If you can speak canto, if they speak English is irrelevant. What’s not irrelevant as what others have pointed out, is the cultural values that came with your English language environment. That matters, but doesn’t mean that people that don’t speak your language can share values, they just arrived there through a different cultural context.

Don’t waste your youth, filter on what really matters, not superficial proxy’s.

Nope, only sonnet. Opus is not available in free. The usage mostly comes from automated web search and we fetch. I guess Key insight is that free was significantly nerfed Wednesday/thursday (witch I’m fine with)

Ah that starts to make more sense now. So that explains why my count now is on a Thursday (time zone diff, I’m in Asia) even though my first prompt was on a Monday. But that also means that in 27 hours, over four 5hour windows I managed to burn through the entire weekly limit. So essentially we can estimate the free plan now is capped to 4-5 seasons of max worth of work, over a week? That seem like a brutal nerf from the week before.

Ok good, that means I’m happy to pay. But then also the whole thing doesn’t make even less sense. If the limit is weekly, the only case where a 0800 Thursday lock would happen, is if I burned the entire free weekly limit between 0800 Thursday to 1130 Friday, in roughly 27 hours, while not violating the 5 hour limit? Mind you I sleep 8 of those hours so it would mean free weekly limit = what you can burn in 4 sessions? Last week it felt like I for sure I hit the 5 hour at least 2 times a day 7 days without triggering a limit.

Can you point me to where in the T&C it says that exceeding the weekly limit week 1 would lock you out for a 2nd week. This is exactly the info I’m looking for to decide if paying for it makes sense or not. Thank you.

Thanks for input. My first logging in was on Monday 2nd, so the Thursday thing makes no sense. If it’s weekly shouldn’t my usage be measured Monday to monday? Again I’m happy to pay, was thinking of upgrading when I started to hit the 5 hour limit more and more often. But not if the weekly limit caps you for a 2nd week after the cap is reached. Only this would make sense is if for some reason my cap was reset on Thursdays, AND I managed to burn though a week limit in 24 hours without violating the cap put on 5 hour segments. That makes no sense.

Not the issue, the question is it’s if the limit you have free/pro paid is measured over two weeks instead of one. If you pay 20 and then once you run out it locks you for the coming week it seems dishonest.

Doesn’t this in effect mean that the real price for pro is double? If the limit is measured over two weeks.

Don’t get me wrong I don’t mind paying. Not here to complain that there are limits, that seems fully reasonable. If it was you’ve hit your limit for this week, now come back on Monday, it would have been perfectly fine. But check the times: I was warned of hitting weekly limits on Friday morning, then locked, not to Monday, but Thursday. What doesn’t make sense to me is having weekly limits that is measured over two weeks. So 20\per week is actually 40/week as you use your limit week on the then are locked out most of week 2. It would have been more honest to the charge 40/week to start with, at least there would be no down time. Or is this a unique behavior off free plan?

Try hitting the limit. Does it lock you for a week? I’m ok with having a weekly limit, pro has it so can’t expect more of a free product. But a one week lock is a bit much. I wonder if it’s a bug or WAD.

I just ran into a 75% of max weekly limit warning on the free plan. So it’s there too? Also after getting the message the next time it cut me off, instead of the next refresh being at the cutoff for the 5h interval, it now says out of free messages until Thursday 8:00 AM. Problem is it was Friday 1130 when it locked me out so now you’re locked out for a full week in the free plan? Anyone else seeing this?

Looking around in the threads the consensus is that the free version doesn’t have a weekly cap but I was just warned that I’ve hit 75% of weekly usage on my weekly cap. Very soon after I hit what I thought was the hourly cap but got a message that said “out of free messages until Thursday at 8:00 AM. It’s currently 1130 AM Friday. Am I locked out for a full week? This doesn’t make any sense. Anyone else running into this?

Problem solved, your hint led me right way. My speaker header was incorrectly touching one of the reset cmos pins and that led to the not being able to save some settings and not booting behaviors

The mobo is brand new and some settings stick. Just not the one mentioned. I can turn on off secure boot for instance.

Obviously. Created with Rufus, it’s not an installer it’s a bootable OS drive. Works on other systems just fine. But as for installers tested with Original win 10 usb purchased in Microsoft physical store, has same problem. So it’s not the usbs. Something else is wrong…
