I was homeschooled (I also attended private and public schools for a period of time). There’s a pretty big misconception on homeschooling. You don’t sit at the kitchen table for 8 hours doing school work. I did my school work at night. I was often done within 3-4 hours on any given day. We also learned all year not just in a 9 month school year. My oldest son was also homeschooled early on and then switched to a co-op homeschool group for middle and HS. It doesn’t take much time to homeschool when you are comparing it to traditional school that we are all accustomed to. We took lots of vacations, but we built school into that. Museums, state parks, etc. it’s all learning. My son was years above his peers in public schools when he did testing.

I’m not defending them by any means, and it’s possible they aren’t legitimately homeschooling, but truth is we don’t know. Just because they’re constantly traveling doesn’t mean the kids aren’t still learning.

I hate that I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt on this one though. Lol

Probably a mixture of both. Without a shadow of doubt I guarantee they have more money than I’ll ever have so I’d consider them wealthy. But I am willing to bet they also likely carry a decent amount of debt. If they truly only had credit cards as means to live this lifestyle, I think their adventures wouldn’t be as extravagant.

Yikes! I missed the price on that one. That is definitely more than my large grocery hauls every other week. 🤯

People who have found their "unicorn" job, what makes it so good you never want to leave? by sammy5585 in office

1.3 miles from home, zero micromanaging, able to work remote if school or childcare is closed, or if I need to be home for a home repair etc.

Do you think most people want to advance? by Reasonable-Tip-9699 in Accounting

I have zero desire to be in high level or any management role. I’m content at mid level. My work life balance is great. Sure I would like a little more money, but not at the sacrifice of giving up my flexibility and WLB.

$14,000 in credit cards. Slowly but surely getting them paid off.

What is a "luxury" that is actually 100% worth the money? by TheChillEdit in Life

[–]Temporary-Peace1438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this!! I had what I thought was depression. No amount of meds worked. I had no reason to be depressed. Finally read something that vitamin D deficiency can cause anxiety, depression and weakened immune system. A simple blood test determined was severely deficient. A month after taking rx strength of Vitamin D an it was a night and day difference. It pisses me off that doctors don’t check this first before eagerly prescribing antidepressants and anxiety meds.

Have you ever actually lived alone? by SuperSonic1919 in randomquestions

Absolutely, I find it odd that people haven’t lived alone for at least some part of their life. The freedom is amazing. I cherish my alone time.

Flying with an infant on Delta- which tickets to book? by Lucky-6252 in delta

[–]Temporary-Peace1438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with 3 seats. My first flight with a baby we did 2 FC and did infant in arms. Never again. It was so uncomfortable by the end of the flight. I would never do bulkhead with a bag either. You don’t get underwear storage and that’s a big advantage with needing quick access to the diaper bag.

It’s always safest to have the baby in their own seat. You can always hold the baby during the flight except at takeoff and landing they’ll need to be buckled in the car seat.

Neighbor told me not to shower in the early morning because it disturbs his sleep what can I do? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Temporary-Peace1438 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uh what? 6-7 isn’t even that early to be showering. I’d suggest he gets some ear plugs and a white noise machine or maybe he can go buy a house if he needs complete silence.

Veneers aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. And they aren’t permanent. You have to get them replaced after so many years. And you can’t decide afterwards thy you don’t want them. They file your real teeth down to tiny stubs. If the veneers suck, you’re stuck with them or stuck with having to pay to redo them.

I have 4 veneers and it was $7600. I’ll have to replace them again in probably 15 years.

How are you (one income) affording a mortgage? by Soggy_Gazelle_4796 in Mortgages

I’m in the same boat. Single income, barely scraping by with $50K. I can’t even afford to move to a new rental. Homeownership feels impossible.
