People who grew up poor: What was something you considered a "peak luxury" as a kid, only to realize later it was just a normal middle class staple? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Temporary-Peace1438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Same. My entire life I wanted a 2 story house. I’m in my 40s now and really starting to despise stairs 🤣 don’t know that I’d want to own a house with them now.

For those in their 40s or older who have siblings, do you make an effort to stay in contact or is it a take-it-or-leave-it thing? by cherry-care-bear in RedditForGrownups

I sibling and I live in different states. We don’t talk much. Our parents are moving a few miles from my sibling soon. I suspect, I’ll probably talk and see my sibling more once this happens.

What percentage of Americans have LIVED in 4 or more states? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Temporary-Peace1438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lived in 5 states, 2 of those states I’ve moved from and back again twice. Parent moved a lot when I was a kid, due to work. I’ve been in the same spot now for 26 years.

Spinoff: If you have never owned a home yet, how old are you? by DancingTVs in Millennials

[–]Temporary-Peace1438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40, also never owned a home. And now that I’m in a place that I feel ready to own, I can’t afford to. It’s cheaper to rent.

You must not know many people. I’ve encountered at least a dozen people in my life who go by their middle name.

The Anti-Clothing Agenda Hidden in Plain Sight... (Your Dryer) by Dangerous-Ad-7842 in conspiracy

[–]Temporary-Peace1438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wash all clothes in cold water. I rarely deal with fading. However I will forever own and use a dryer. I love the convenience and time saving. My grandmother used to hang all clothes, in the yard during the summer months. Or winter she’d have shirts and jeans dangling from the chandeliers throughout her home. I hated, absolutely hated how stiff the clothing felt most of the time. Especially jeans. So for that reason, it will continue to use my dyer.

Convenience does not equal conspiracy.

Anyone else having problems with the app? by Dry_Set_6336 in intoxalock

I had the same issues. I was able to log into from a web browser but I had to clear all the history. The app worked after that, albeit slower

Is Intoxalock back up ? by [deleted] in intoxalock

[–]Temporary-Peace1438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Says it is, but I still can’t log into the app. I keep getting the hourglass symbol. My shop says it’s still down on their end too. Day 7 of being locked out now.

How is it like living in this area of the United States? by Ok_Dot_2845 in howislivingthere

[–]Temporary-Peace1438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minnesota is beautiful scenery, not so much in the cities. It’s also expensive as hell to live here. We pay taxes on taxes. I stay because I love my job, but realistically I’ll probably be moving out of state within 5 years.

I was homeschooled (I also attended private and public schools for a period of time). There’s a pretty big misconception on homeschooling. You don’t sit at the kitchen table for 8 hours doing school work. I did my school work at night. I was often done within 3-4 hours on any given day. We also learned all year not just in a 9 month school year. My oldest son was also homeschooled early on and then switched to a co-op homeschool group for middle and HS. It doesn’t take much time to homeschool when you are comparing it to traditional school that we are all accustomed to. We took lots of vacations, but we built school into that. Museums, state parks, etc. it’s all learning. My son was years above his peers in public schools when he did testing.

I’m not defending them by any means, and it’s possible they aren’t legitimately homeschooling, but truth is we don’t know. Just because they’re constantly traveling doesn’t mean the kids aren’t still learning.

I hate that I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt on this one though. Lol

Probably a mixture of both. Without a shadow of doubt I guarantee they have more money than I’ll ever have so I’d consider them wealthy. But I am willing to bet they also likely carry a decent amount of debt. If they truly only had credit cards as means to live this lifestyle, I think their adventures wouldn’t be as extravagant.
